Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Wednesday, July 30, 2014

The United States economy rebounded heartily in the spring after a dismal winter, the Commerce Department reported on Wednesday, growing at an annual rate of 4 percent from April through June and surpassing economists' expectations. Economists, who had been hoping for a full reversal of the first quarter's decline, were cheered by the second quarter's numbers. The consensus forecast for GDP was 3 percent. The bigger-than-expected gain further cemented views that the decrease in America's overall output during the first quarter was most likely a fluke tied in large part to unusually stormy winter weather and other anomalies.

Where are all those folks that were so happy the economy shrank during the first quarter?

This will soon be revised, as has all previous BLS "preliminary findings", since Clinton changed the basis for reporting in order to reduce Social Security payments.

One good quarter does not a rebound make.

Also, give it a few months to see if any book cooking shows up, like it often has in the past.

And on a further note, Fracking is no doubt a major part of any good news.

Also, in a world where economies are going to hell, the 'least bad' one will be where money tries to hide.

Just wait until all those highway construction projects slow down, thanks to the dorks on Congress who prefer no additional gasoline tax over good roads (and the economic benefits derived from good infrastructure). THEN they will be able crow about how evil Obama caused bad highways, bridges, etc., which lead to a slow-down of the economy...

Growth is a meaningless number. A form of social justification.

You could use force millions into labor camps, and work them to death; that would produce positive growth.

You can also let them overrun the border, give them work cards, and open up the sneaker factories here.
