Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Monday, July 28, 2014

During a Fox News Sunday panel discussion, conservative pundit George Will said that Republicans need to stop pushing to deport the influx of undocumented minors crossing the border into the U.S. "My view is that we have to say to the children, 'Welcome to America. You're going to go to school and get a job and become Americans,'" he said. "We have 3,141 counties in this country. That would be 20 per county. The idea that we can't assimilate these 8-year-old criminals with their teddy bears is preposterous."

Then what happens when the next wave comes crashing in? In the 80's amnesty was given, what happened, even more illegal aliens came to the US. Obama nearly promises amnesty, what happens we got 100,000 kids from central America, with no sign of it ending.

Many counties don't need or can handle 20 more freeloaders, they have enough freeloaders born in-house.

We have real unemployment >10%, we don't need more people. We have the highest percentages of Americans on some form of government aid, EVER. Why add more.

Just like for democrats, Will is just worried about votes, not integrity or the rule of law. This is why both parties stink.

The border problem needs to be fixed. It's not the first 50k kids that come here. It's the next 50k and the next 50k and so forth. Besides we keep hearing about children. Young poor 3-4 year olds. How does a 3-4 year old get here w/out a adult?

The only answer is to move the United States to a continent like Australia so that we don't have any borders.

It all depends on the reason they give from being here when they get here. If it is in response to the Presidents promises and the promise of free stuff, they cannot stay.

If it is due to a real fear of their home country and an absolute need to get out, they will do anything to get in and should be given the opportunity to prove themselves as such. Probationary citizenship, if they don't fulfill their end of the deal, they go back. Of course this is not possible as they will need to be kept track of very carefully (which the government only seems capable of keeping track of full citizens who have done nothing wrong).

In a way, this is just another manifestation of 'the world is flat'. Perhaps at one time the difficulties of a journey to the US would prevent so many of the impoverished and persecuted from coming. But as the world gets flatter, the journey only becomes more inevitable.
Like air leaving a balloon, people naturally flow from the poorest areas to the areas of increased opportunity. Not necessarily a good or a bad thing. Just basic physics. From high to low pressure, and all the protesting and whining about it can only slow the process down, but never stop it.

It's not like the U.S.A. can't double or triple in population size. We have the technology and the know how to support the influx. We may have to temporarily reduce or eliminate aid to foreign countries but hey. They just need to realize there is no free lunch to come here and having a sponsor willing to support them till they get established should be a requirement, not the governments. I look at them as potentially valuable resources, because America is in decline and stagnating.

We don't have jobs for Americans right now and all that'll happen will be an increase in the entitlement programs. In the past, you had an expanding economy but this time you won't and will not in the future. Blaming American children now. How telling. In early elementary my daughter went to school with a high hispanice population. None of the parents spoke english and hardly any of the kids spoke it. You don't think when half the class doesn't know english it doesn't set the other children that already do back? Fortunately, my daughter is a hard worker. After getting her into a school where half the kids didn't just speak spanish she is now a straight A highschool student. If you don't think that during their early education years learning with kids that can't even communicate doesn't hurt the ones that do you are delusional.

Same situation as me and my kids, only our neighborhood is dominated by very affluent Spanish and Hispanics. The kids that come in with little English, mostly from Spain as Latin America seems stronger in English, are separated and form their own class in each grade. Within six months, their English is near perfect, so yes they will be competing with native English speaking Americans.

Possibly, Obama, may be working on giving refugee status to all children of central america. What will we do when we have 500,000 children at our border or a million? Ir has happened before in human history

What about the inner youth that suffer the same violence, but have no were to escape too? Democratic policies work so well for them. Most of the children are teenagers, many are part of MS-13, one the most dangerous gangs in the world.

These kids are being used, they are pawns to combine Canada, US, and Mexico, and central America into one nation. But first, America needs to broken, that's part of their job. Overload the system.

Well, I admit this issue throws me off the rails. For 35 or more years, the US has failed to secure its borders. Million upon millions enter, contribute very little to society, in fact they make it worse by doing cheap labor, undermining native citizens. They spit in the faces of those that came here legally, like my family did. Many seek only to come here for the free stuff, for criminal activity, or for colonization.

Meanwhile my own fellow citizens suffer at the hands of an overzealous police state, the same police state that apparently can do nothing to stop the flood of immigrants, but can give surplus military equipment to local police, can spy on every America via the NSA, send troops to Iraqi and Afghanistan.

Insult me all you want, but my children. Yeah hide behind your anonymity, punk loser.e.

Not true, if the kids are here, many will be allowed to bring there parents up now or in the future, perhaps try reading a more full spectrum of the news will help. How are the kids supposed to get jobs? THEY ARe KIDS AND WE HAVE >10% unemployment.

Meanwhile the feds send armed swat teams to stop a guy from grazing cattle on open land not used for anything but growing grass, land his family owned for generations, creating food and jobs. But illegals get nearly full immunity form the law

"Before the public gets their mandatory evacuation, the plan is to get all these unaccompanied women and children out of the Valley and to safer ground," said Goldsmith.

yes and you see danv...leftists don't give a hoot about the people who are citizens and on welfare and minimum wage. they already vote for democrats no MATTER WHAT....this is an entirely NEW pool of votes coming in.....

but it's not a slam dunk that even a gop house and senate can keep this guy from further damaging our republic. There are still plenty of cowards in the gop establishment who cower and run from any sort of criticism from the left or their steno pool pr people called the media.

Yes, the mid-terms will be a very good indicator of whether this country is heading in the right direction or not.

Well, the Obummer has only 2 more years to completely destroy the country and so he is pushing as hard as he can----over time we'll become more like the countries these illegals are coming from. I believe that's part of the Obummer's plan all along. Look, we're already screwed under this guy. We might as well throw in the towel and tell everyone in South and Central America that the door is wide open. We'll have a few more million flooding into our states and it'll only hasten the day of our insolvency. Let's get it over with and then those folks can flood Canada.

Canada is looking awfully good right now. Too cold for those from the south.

Re #77 - you r right 2014 will not be a slam dunk, but it will be one hell of a fight. Those fighting for the preservation of the country versus the establishment and moochers

Thank goodness our forefathers weren't so cowardly

New Colossus

Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.
"Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!" cries she
With silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"
