Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

A Torrance, California, surfer will receive a $1.8-million settlement for being accidentally shot at by city police during the 2013 manhunt for former LAPD Officer Christopher Dorner. David Perdue was going surfing when his truck was rammed by a Torrance police officer and struck by several bullets (none hit Perdue). Police at the time said his pickup truck matched the description of one belonging to Dorner, who had already killed two police officers and injured two other people.

Perdue's attorney has questioned how police could have confused Perdue with Dorner.

Perdue's pickup truck was not the same model or color as Dorner's, and the ex-cop was several inches taller than Perdue and roughly 100 pounds heavier, attorney Robert Sheahen previously said.

The Los Angeles County district attorney's office previously cleared the officers involved in the shooting of any wrongdoing.

"police at the time said his pickup truck matched the description"

"Perdue's pickup truck was not the same model or color as Dorner's, "

Once again the police eff it up and the taxpayer's pick up the tab.

I love how they were cleared of any wrong doing. What kind of self-regulation do these guys have? Sounds like zero.

We seem to be a teeny bit conflicted about this police state we've built to fight the War on Drugs...

There were also two people delivering newspapers that they shot up too. Which is crazy because 8 cops shot over 100 rounds and only wounded (luckily for them) 1 of the occupants.

The two received 4.2 million and 40k for a new truck. Department wouldn't comment about what happens to the officers next, but they did say that they violated the dept policy on use of deadly force.

There's also the fact that Perdue is light white and Dorner was medium dark black.

$1.8 million for just being shot at, is way to much money. They can shot at me for $100,000 I will even agree to be just slightly wounded for $200,000. Saving the gun-happy cops $1,6 million the next time they have itchy trigger fingers.
