Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Wednesday, July 23, 2014

A Texas man flew to Australia, went to his ex-wife's home and attacked her husband with a crossbow and a tomahawk Tuesday. Jeffery Hooten, 49, was arrested in New South Wales, Australia and charged with attempted murder and malicious wounding with intent to inflict grievous bodily harm. Greg Williams, 56, deflected the crossbow bolt with his laptop, but took one tomahawk chop to the head as the men grappled. A neighbor intervened and helped Williams restrain Hooten. "He brings out this tomahawk and he swings over the top with his right hand and I managed to block him a bit, but he still got me on the noggin," Williams said.

A seriously Loony Tunes move. Extra style points for use of the tomahawk. Sane or insane, gotta respect a man with a tomahawk...

I bet that was a hoot.

Australia.

That explains why a Texan didn't just shot him outright.

Gotta give him props for the longest grudge/revenge trip this year.

This is sort of like Hop-along-Cassidy. He killed himself. Bow and arrow. Very weird.

The only thing that would make this story better is if the Australian defended himself with a boomerang.

#6 Or his pet kangaroo took one for the team.

I have to seriously wonder how someone could fly for 18 hours to get revenge and FAIL. My crossbow can put an expanding broadhead clear through a deer from 50 yards, and it lacks a lot of being top of the line. A laptop would barely slow it down.

When are we finally going to regulate crossbows and tomahawks?

I would bet that he flew to Australia without any weapons and had to make due with what he could find after he landed.

But yeah, this failure is an embarassment to maniacs everywhere. What a loser.

I always wondered what some Texans would be nuts about if it wasn't guns.

Guess I know the answer now.

"That's not a knife"

"No, -------, it's a tomahawk"

All kidding aside - Williams is lucky he partially deflected the tomahawk chop as that's still a massive wound. Of course a direct connect would have split his melon open like a watermelon...

I don't blame her for moving to Australia - she couldn't get much further away and her former nut-job ex and he still came around the world to at least kill her husband - 5 years after her divorce. I wonder what the 2012 incident was... Still that's some serious hate to carry around for a very long time.

Unless he wore an adult diaper, and was an astronaut, this isn't the best story I've read here.

The clear lesson is they need to regulate tomahawks. Those things are assault hatchets!
