Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Sunday, July 20, 2014

A three-year federal investigation into groups of suburban white teens crossing into Mississippi's capital city of Jackson to attack blacks has grown to 10 indictments and six convictions. The most recent indictments -- two men and two women -- were made public Wednesday. The June 2011 death of James Craig Anderson, who was run over by a pickup truck outside a Jackson hotel, sparked a broader investigation into reports that groups of young white men and women would drive from the mostly white Rankin County into majority-black Jackson to assault blacks. Prosecutors said the suspects usually sought out the homeless or people under the influence of alcohol.

Another example of Justice meted out by class. Defining a crime as a hate crime and then doubling down on the punishment is not as effective as swift Justice. We need consistency, regardless of the class of the defendant, before we can make any claim of having a system of justice.

While the entire premise of 'hate crimes' is flawed, the aspect that makes them actively evil is that the way they are applied IS a hate crime.

If I was reading of several convictions of 'protected minorities' under hate crime laws for every conviction of 'whitey', you could at least say they were being even applied. If a law is meant to punish criminal bigots, it should punish criminal bigots.

Most states prosecute murderers, on their own. But the courts in the great state of Mississippi, look the other way. If not for HUSSEIN Obama's Justice Department the murderers would have gone unpunished.

A job well done Mr Holder

There was one murderer, Dedmon. He's serving two life terms for the murder and hate crimes he did not plead guilty to, in a prosecution that did not happen in MS because that state looked the other way.

Got it, once again you're as full as the proverbial Christmas turkey.

This is learned behavior, learned at home, at the homes of neighbors and in segregated schools...

The government assigned protected status of one individual because of arbitrary characteristics or demographics, means that the non-protected status of another will equal government sanctioned racism and the un-Constitutional and unequal or selective enforcement of our laws.

The intended by-product of hate crime laws created by the likes of racist and ethnic centric groups that have the ear of lawmakers (not progressives) that pit society against each other due to unfair and unequal laws enforcement.

Must be from all of those killings from knives, hammers, and cars that right-wingers love to pretend are more dangerous than guns.

Why would you think anyone would possibly believe this obvious lie?

There are tons of articles about that posted here all the time. They're like porn to people like you.

On topic - I oppose hate crimes because I don't think motive really makes a crime any better or worse. And because as a society we are too immature to apply hate crime laws equally anyway.

"Hate crime" is just another way of saying "thought crime". I don't know a judge, jury or cop that can read someone's mind. The law judges a person's actions, not ideas.
