Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

Some 20 rockets were found Wednesday in a school in Gaza operated by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency, the organization confirmed Thursday. "UNRWA strongly condemns the group or groups responsible for placing the weapons in one of its installations," the statement read. The discovery would seem to confirm Israel's oft-repeated claim that Hamas and other Gazan terror groups use civilian infrastructure to hide weapons. "Yet again, Gaza terrorists abuse UN facilities to carry out their violent activities. Hamas and other terror groups are determined to put civilians in harm's way and will respect nothing in their violent frenzy," Foreign Ministry spokesperson Yigal Palmor told the Times of Israel.

Just coincidence, right?

Naw, UN schools are where rockets grow up. It's a normal part of their learning environment.

The difference between Israel and Palestine?

Israel is a wealthy nation subsidized by American taxpayer dollars and given the best American military equipment to use as they see fit.

Where as, Palestine is a giant prison and the inmates are being eradicated.

If hamas was smart they would reverse their policy and tell Israel that they will recognize their right to exist, call an immediate cease fire and end all aggressive activities.
That would put the ball inside Israel's court and see what happens.
It would be the greatest coup of all times.

No, Clown. They were given an autonomous land and proceeded not to build a civilization, but to use it as a staging area for indiscriminate rocket attacks.
When Palestinians build a civilization, I will entertain believing their BS.

It isn't black and white in that region. Zionist terrorists were operating in the area before the creation of Israel. Begin was one of the leaders back then and was involved in the murder of many innocents. There is no real difference between the Jews and Arabs except their situations.

#20 | Posted by bored at 2014-07-19 06:21 AM | Reply | Flag:

Id beg to differ bored... Its very much black and white at this point. Regardless of what started, who started, how it started originally, all the palestinians have to do is stop launching rockets and suicide donkeys. If they had spent their money on infrastructure and tech, they wouldnt be hating israel. If they werent launching rockets and tunneling around and playing hide behind the "civilian", israel wouldnt be on the ground in there. If these rats of the middle east wanted sympathy from the world, theyd certainly get it from me if israel still bombed and screwed with them unprovoked.

But no, alot of people arent actually interested in peace WITH israel. Youll throw out that big Z word and act like you know something about the world and a 'secret society' hell bent on dominating it...from a sliver smaller than rhode island. Rrrrrriiiiiiiiiiiiiiigggggghhh
hhhttttt... Just completely ignore the one side vowing to make the other disappear.

What we have here is not a failure to communicate, or a misunderstanding, each side understands each other perfectly. That is why the Israel has invades Gaza, there was no alternative. The reality is that the people of Gaza are proxy for the Saudi, and The camps up north are proxy for the Iranians. The Sunni gulf states and the Saudis are funding ISIS along with Turkey. This has escalated to a Shea/ Sunni civil war.- Have no doubt. the Sunni are winning, they are building their caliphate, weather that was the intent or not. In this struggle between Iran and Arabia, the winner will more than likely be Turkey. The seat of the last Caliphate.
Note that Saudi Arabia and Iran are twins in religious repression. Saudis ban churches; it insults Islam to suggest it is so frail it cannot withstand an occasional church. Actually, the fundamentalists know full well that Islam cannot withstand an occasional church, which is why apostasy is punished by death and Christians are brutally persecuted. They are keenly aware that the freedom of conscience to choose one's religion would mean a vast exodus from, and possibly the end of, Islam.

I had a minor epiphany when thinking about Israel just the other day. I do not have a problem with Israel attacking perceived Hamas locations and weapons storage facilities. ( For God's sake, they actually drop leaflets in advance telling everyone that they will be bombing the location.) On the other hand, I have a huge problem with the continued expansion of settlements in Palestinian territory. The former is arguably legitimate self defense. The latter is a needless provocation, - like a big '---- you' to both the Palestinians and the entire International community.

Except my only criticism of Israel is directly related to how they treat the Palestinians.

My question for you is, how would you expect and oppressed population to react to their oppressors that kill hundreds (with a majority of them being innocent lives) in response to 1 death and force people out of their house to expand their own nation?

What would you expect the US government to do should a Native American kill an American citizen?

If we followed Israel, we would kill that Native America, his whole tribe (what remains of them) and then take their land (what we allowed them to keep).

Clown, your criticism of the attacks that kill civilians is shared by most everyone. But the challenge facing Israel, as this article so perfectly reflects, is that Hamas intentionally uses civilian facilities and civilians in general as shields against counterattacks by Israel. So what is Israel suppose to do? Nothing? Let the attacks continue? Best I can tell Israel is genuinely trying to identify actual Hamas terrorist locations. Then, they go a huge step futrher and drop leaflets over the area prior to an attack warning civilians to clear out. (Can you imagine any other nation on earth doing that? I can't.) In response Hamas looks for ever more clever and devious ways of insuring that any retaliatory strikes by Israel will hurt Palestinian civilians. Really, if you are honest and think about it, what Hamas is doing is evil.

Which again is why when I criticize Israel it is for their uncalled for provocations against the Palestinians, namely the expansion of settlements. Which as I said above is nothing more than a big '---- you' to everyone.

Anyway, I am about to drive from SF to LA so I may not respond until tomorrow.

Israel fought off Jordan to "occupy" it. When was it ever Palestinian?

Also not sure if you have been there, but the west bank will never, so long as Israel exists be a soverign state on its own.

The Israelis, left Gaza 9 years ago. According to many here, that should bring peace. Did it? Not at all.....

The rockets will rain on Israel so long as there are Muslim extremists in power, regardless of giving up land.

Much like our super best friends Saudi Arabia, and the rest of our "allies" in the Middle East.

But I do like your use of topics which you'd expect a democrat to get emotional about.

If you ask me the IDF are freedom fighters, fighting for those that can't.

LOL!!!! Thanks for you opinion Andrea. And Hamas is obviously a bully that batters down Israel so much that these "freedom fighters" are needed to help the incapable Israeli population.

Hamas, imo, ARE Palestinians that have taken all they can from the oppressive Israelis. Either by losing a family member, a friend, their livelihood... enough to get them to throw away any concern for their lives and go fight their captors.

How convenient of you to sit on your comfy couch and proclaim your hate for a group of people which you have absolutely no idea what they are going through.

Maybe you feel like Palestine should remain complacent while they are pushed into extinction.

I'm not really sure what you think.

Why do you consider it Palestinian territory?

Because prior to American and British interference, it was Palestinian territory. All of it.

But. I'm sure you're also in favor of killing the rest of the Native Americans because they lost against they European settlers.

Israel fought off Jordan to "occupy" it. When was it ever Palestinian?

Ever? Lol! Again, before American and British interference.

But do play dumb Andrea.

Also not sure if you have been there, but the west bank will never, so long as Israel exists be a soverign state on its own.

Of course not, not while Israel can keep killing Palestinians and taking their land.

Your bloodlust is showing Andrea.

Clown, your criticism of the attacks that kill civilians is shared by most everyone. But the challenge facing Israel, as this article so perfectly reflects, is that Hamas intentionally uses civilian facilities and civilians in general as shields against counterattacks by Israel.

Could it possible be because Hamas has no military infrastructures? I'm not sure how you expect them retaliate. again, you seem to be part of Andrea's "they should lay down and die" mentality.

So what is Israel suppose to do? Nothing? Let the attacks continue? Best I can tell Israel is genuinely trying to identify actual Hamas terrorist locations.

If murdering 200 people is identifying hamas then I agree with you. Seems like Israel always claims they "know" who the perps were. Instead of blowing up a neighborhood, why not go in with force and capture the perpetrators? Arresting the perpetrators, and not killing an entire block in order to get 1 person might be a better tactic.

Then, they go a huge step futrher and drop leaflets over the area prior to an attack warning civilians to clear out. (Can you imagine any other nation on earth doing that? I can't.)

DO you know how utterly aggravating and antagonizing that must feel?

To have your oppressor nation drop pamphlets telling you to get the f out cause they will carpet bomb you if you don't.

(Can you think of another time in history where it has been okay for one nation to keep part of their population confined to a prison? I can't)

In response Hamas looks for ever more clever and devious ways of insuring that any retaliatory strikes by Israel will hurt Palestinian civilians.

Its war there. Of course they will retaliate. Just because we are "allies" with Israel, we look the other way and pretend its okay that Palestine is getting murdered.

Really, if you are honest and think about it, what Hamas is doing is evil.

Evil is subjective counselor. My rebuttal to you is "what the IDF is doing is evil."

Which again is why when I criticize Israel it is for their uncalled for provocations against the Palestinians, namely the expansion of settlements. Which as I said above is nothing more than a big '---- you' to everyone.

Sweet Jesus there is so much ignorance here. Arabs and Jews have lived in that region for thousands of years. Neither side has had truly autonomous self rule, do neither side could claim a right to rule it now.

That is, until the international community awarded it to the Jews after world war 2... so they DO have a legitimate claim to it now, and the Palestinians, do NOT.

That said, when Israel was brew and forming, the Arabs in the region were to be given citizenship, a voice in the government, and have participation. No-one...not one...person was kicked out of a house they owned.

Instead of letting it pay out, the Palestinians decided to conspire Wynn their Muslim neighbors to grab control of that which they have no rightful claim to rule, and annihilate every Jew they could.

Well, they got their ass handed to them, and have in every conflict since. They have proven to be pouty, petulant children, and the Israelis have learned to not trust them. The Israelis also learned they had to segregate, and isolate their enemy, because they can't learn to be adults and discuss the issue instead of trying to murder everyone.
