Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

President Barack Obama on Wednesday urged Congress to quickly approve a $3.7 billion plan for border security that would confront the influx of unaccompanied minors from Central America at the Texas border. "If the Texas delegation is now prepared to move," Obama said, "this thing can get done next week." The money would go toward new detention facilities, more immigration judges and Border Patrol personnel, and increased aerial surveillance in the region. "About half of the resources would go to border security," Obama said Wednesday. The other half would be for resources to help the children.

When asked about why he was not planning on visiting the border, Obama replied, "I'm not interested in photo ops, I'm interested in solving the problem."

In 2012, there were just 5,200 unaccompanied children at the border. That number is now at least 52,000 and is projected to swell to 90,000 by year's end. The majority of minors are from three troubled Central American countries -- El Salvador, Honduras, and Guatemala -- which are facing extreme levels of violence.

Obama said Wednesday that Perry advised the president to act quickly, and that strong leadership "might convince Republicans that they should go ahead and pass the supplemental." "And I had to remind him, I'm getting sued right now by [House Speaker John Boehner] apparently for going ahead and acting instead of going through Congress," Obama said. "Well, here's a good test case."

And Ted Cruz, who never wanted the Federal government closed, was noted standing off-camera for a change, just laughing his ass off.

Because some fools think the American Dream is achievable, and are willing to leave everything to get here.

or Obama?

"If it only takes a week to solve the problem, why are there 20 million -------- in the US?"

So now the new meme of to pretend he meant that the whole problem of illigal immigration can be solved in a week and not that a bill could be passed to fund the necessary tools to deal with the immediate crisis could be passed in a week? Really? That's just stupid. Typically so for the right.

It's OK, we'll just cut a few more music programs and school nurses to pay for it.

I'm starting to doubt the reports about these -------- being unacompanied children. The videos we see on the news does show small children but, they are always with a older person. Maybe older sister or maybe a young mother. Then we see a lot of them in their mid teens. There is no way thousands of kids under 5 could travel that far in those conditions. I saw a clip this morning where a train derailed in Mexico with a lot of -------- on the roof or holding on to the sides. No small child could travel in such a fashion and there more than a few that were old enough to take care of themselves and others looked to be in their 30's or 40's. I'm not saying there are no small children I just question the percentage.

What's really funny, this is exactly what you do when you accuse the right of wanting to poison the air, water, shut down public schools, starve children and deny medical care to the poor because they oppose a particular piece of legislation. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Separate problem. And the massive influx of refugee children wont be solved in a week.

Why?

CONGRESS.

Every solution is more money, not actually enforcing the laws to begin with, we didn't get here because was enforcing LAWS that passed congress, but because he was enforcing a LAW he wished passed congress.

Deal with it MrPresident this is your problem, start enforcing laws as passed.

Which of his cronies is planning to pay off with this money? 3.7 Billion will buy a lot of oatmeal and soccer balls.

Based on Obama's other ideas I'm pretty sure we know where he pulled that number from.

WTF are you complaining about?

Obama isn't enforcing the law?

It's Perry that isn't enforcing the laws. And he begged Obama to come help him.

Your need for Obama to be God will go unfulfilled.

Your blindness to Texas being unable to enforce their own laws is pathetic.

Because people like you ask obtuse questions and place blame on Obama, rather than pushing for our entire government to work on realistic solutions.

Yeah.. It has nothing to do with congress failing to provide adequate funding to enforce many laws..

Adding to unfounded worries that immigrant children attempting to enter the U.S. are reintroducing a panoply of diseases such as Ebola and dengue fever, conservatives grew more agitated yesterday after "American security contractors" found what they believed to be a "Muslim prayer rug" abandoned near the Arizona border.

According to Adam Weinstein at Gawker, the "rug" is actually a diamond-patterned Adidas soccer jersey.

You guys are nuts. It's the federal governments job to enforce our borders not individual states. Second you wing dings told us for 6 years that the border was secure and now it's not b/c of funding? There is no way congress should take on immigration reform until this surge of immigrants are delt with.

#15 | Posted by AndreaMackris

He is trying to. Those children have rights. Rights given to them by Congress. There is not enough money to enforce the Law that the Bush Administration passed in 2008.

Big surprise that you would advocate for violating the law while supporting a lawsuit against the President for violating the law.

Reappropriation of funds that Congress authorized for specific purposes is against the Law.

Once again. Congress needs to act.

It's the federal governments job to enforce our borders not individual states.

Except States like Texas reject the federal government for political points.

Then suddenly they realize they are screwed and go begging for help.

"Deal with it MrPresident this is your problem, start enforcing laws as passed."

"As part of an effort to stem the flood of children caught trying to cross the nation's southwest border, President Obama is trying to change a 2008 law that dictates how the federal government handles those immigrant children in order to speed up their deportations.
Under that law, most of the unaccompanied minors being caught by Border Patrol agents must be handed over to the Department of Health and Human Services, which coordinates care for them, finds them safe housing and helps advise them on their legal rights as their immigration cases are decided. The president is now asking Congress to amend the law in a way that would allow Border Patrol agents to render a deportation decision themselves and quickly deport the children back to their home country."

This thread is to hilarious as if obama will 'fix' the problem if you just give his administration more monies. Does anyone here, even your lefties, truly believe he will 'FIX' anything [as you know he has no intention of doing such]???
