Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

Walmart, Amazon and Sears came under social media fire from shoppers over the holiday weekend for selling a commemorative poster featuring a photo of one of Nazi Germany's concentration camps. Online shoppers were horrified to learn that an image from Dachau's main gate was being sold as a piece of home decor. The offending item was listed on the Walmart page with the description: "Gate with inscription Arbeit Macht Frei, Dachau Concentration Camp, Dachau." Walmart also promised that the poster "would make a great addition to your home or office."

Walmart removed the item from sale, as did the other retailers, and apologized. "We were horrified to see that this item was on our site. We sincerely apologize, and worked quickly to remove it," the company said.

I hate to sound paranoid but I find it hard to believe this was an accident.

"Work Is Freedom" on page one of their employee manual.

The poster was also sold by Amazon and Sears. Why is everyone only complaining about Walmart?

The Conservative prescription for all the takers, and as shallow of a promise as it was to the victims of Dachau.

"The Conservative prescription for all the takers"

The Nazi's and the Stalinists masqueraded as being very left wing. Evil people who want power always start out by promising people great things if they can't achieve what they want initially by force. I don't think these really cared what their politics were. They came eschewing whatever they thought would sell.

Maybe it's a good thing some choose to Never Forget Dachau and the horrors of leaders gone unchecked. I've read that whenever the world goes crazy they kill the Jews first. Evil abounds today, matching the horrors of Stalin's communism and Hitler's Nazism, we have Islam's insanity and progressivism's new world order obsession.

It was probably not the most tasteful of statements to print on my business cards either.. It was the sentiment that matters, it's context quite revealing.

Exactly lel, I have no problem with this poster, we should never forget.
Walmart and Sears should keep selling them, and just donate the profits to charity

I thought that was the basis of the Republican Party Platform.

Oh please, the jews run their own camps. They are called the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

I really don't care about their delicate sensibilities. It's only propaganda while they attempt ethnic cleansing of Palestinian land.

They should update it.

I agree with Tor after seeing this:

Although Baltimore-based writer Jennifer Mendelsohn tweeted a screengrab of the Sears listing that, even more shockingly, came with a list of "similar items" to the sign, including double wall ovens.

No way this was accidental.
