Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

A Chris McDaniel supporter arrested for his alleged connection to the photographing of Sen. Thad Cochran's wife died Wednesday in an apparent suicide, the Clarion-Ledger newspaper in Mississippi reports. Mark Mayfield, a leader of the Mississippi Tea Party, was one of three men arrested on conspiracy charges after blogger Clayton Kelly allegedly photographed Cochran's bedridden wife, Rose, at a nursing home where she suffers from progressive dementia. The photos were allegedly used for an anti-Cochran political video that was later taken down. Mayfield was found dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound Friday at his Ridgeland home.

A mentally unstable tea-[partier]? Who could have figured?

It's a good thing that guns are less expensive and less stigmatizing for overcompensating men than adequate psychiatric care in our great nation or else we wouldn't have stories like this to look forward to every day.

I hate to say it but it looks to me like he lived and died as trash.

I'm sure all the conspiracy theorists who claim the Clintons offed that dude in the park will now tell us that this was the work of the Miss. Tea Party, right? Right?

Actually, I was waiting for the Tea Party to tell us that Thad Cochran did it.

2 possiblities:

One is that he was so ashamed by what he did and thought his life would be terrible from here on out, so he killed himself.

The other is that he had been working on orders from someone else, and that someone else didn't want to be exposed, so they killed him.

The second seems more plausible, since big powerful interests are pulling the tea puppets strings, and why would you kill yourself over just photographing a disabled woman?

@SPEAKSOFTLY

I suspect he thought he was on his way to being the next Lee Atwater.

When his photograph gamble failed he realized he would NEVER be able to work in politics again.

And that's worthy of suicide? Having to change careers?

That's like when Kramer lied in court for Newman, saying he wanted to kill himself because he could never be a banker.

My street smarts and law enforcement experience leads me to believe that this was not a suicide. This guy was murdered, just as many civil rights workers were massacred in Mississippi in the 60's.

"that's worthy of suicide?"

Not to you or I but some people live for their job.

Others are mad with desire for power.

I suspect the poor SOB was one of the latter.

I guess this is Chris McDaniel's Vince Foster.

So there's a good chance Chris McDaniels can go on to become President one day.

I've been trying to figure out the motive for taking a picture of Cochran's wife? I just don't get it.

To prove he supports a moocher, a member of the unproductive class?

he shouldn't rest until he finds out what yahoo thought it was a good idea to photograph a woman suffering from dementia in a nursing home...Mississippi and the tea party ...dumb and dumber

"...finds out what yahoo thought it was a good idea to photograph a woman suffering from dementia..."

This was someone's idea of dirty politics that crossed an invisible line. The idea was probably to show she wasn't being cared for properly.

I've been reading the linked article and the remarks of the Tea Party representative concerning the death. Talk about Alice in Wonderland. If the TPs who come here are genuinely puzzled as to why voters crossed over to oppose McDaniel, he provides more than one good reason. Self-righteous and paranoid does little to reassure.

I've been thinking the motivation was something close to this. It doesn't make any sense from any normal point of view. But, hey, we're talking Tea Party, aren't we?

Pat Bruce, president of the Madison County Conservative Coalition, told the Clarion-Ledger that Mayfield was the finest man she knew.

"They killed him," she told the paper. "They sent a SWAT team to his office, six officers, just to arrest him."

Well, there you have it. Mayfiled didn't kill himself. He was offed right out in the open, and only the Tea Party is in a position to know and report it.
