Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

In a significant first, a U.S. appeals court has struck down a state ban on same-sex marriage, creating greater political and legal momentum for the Supreme Court to decide whether gays and lesbians have a constitutional right to wed. It happened on Wednesday in Utah, where a panel ruled 2-1 against the prohibition, saying that any couple, regardless of sexual orientation, has the right to marry. Enforcement of the decision was stayed temporarily. "We hold that the Fourteenth Amendment protects the fundamental right to marry, establish a family, raise children, and enjoy the full protection of a state's marital laws," the majority opinion from the 10th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals said. "A state may not deny the issuance of a marriage license to two persons, or refuse to recognize their marriage, based solely upon the sex of the persons in the marriage union," the court said.

Equality is breaking out in places where we didn't expect to see it for generations. That's a very good thing.

"We hold that the Fourteenth Amendment protects the fundamental right to marry, establish a family, raise children..."

Good. This country NEEDS more families that don't have both a mother and a father DESPERATELY. So this ruling helps out not only those who feel it necessary to manufacture a new pet in a test tube that they couldn't create on their own, but also the ability to adopt a new pet (heaven forbid they get a dog or cat).

The faster libs can get this country in the crapper, the faster the public will wake up and smell the hemlock being distributed by the federal government.

Utah's Governor intends to appeal this case to SCOTUS. He should keep in mind that if they back off, they can bring their polygamy back.

Conservatives are slowly turning into the victim party. As the country turns against them in larger and larger numbers, the cry of "where has my country gone?!" will cry out. The new minority is scared of the near future.

An Indiana US district court did the same thing today.

"In less than a year," Young wrote in his opinion, "every federal district court to consider the issue has reached the same conclusion in thoughtful and thorough opinions -- laws prohibiting the celebration and recognition of same-sex marriages are unconstitutional." www.indystar.com

This is utter NONSENSE!

WHERE in the constitution does it ascribe Americans the right to acknowledge the existence of Utah?

And when this Republican is shot down, or shall we say, Nixed by the Supreme Court, will the rest of the Republicans be outraged at their own continual efforts to undermine the US Constitution?

I am gonna go with not only No but Hell No!
