One of the most powerful liberal Democrats in the House, New York Rep. Charles Rangel, who has held his Harlem seat since 1971, faces a tough primary on June 24. The race is one of the few around the country that pits two strong Democratic challengers against each other in a primary. Harry Bruinius of the Christian Science Monitor writes, "Should state Sen. Adriano Espaillat defeat Congressman Rangel ... the win would likely be seen for what it is -

I don't think losing a seat you've held for 33 years at age 84 would be anything like what happened to Cantor.

Yeah, good point. Rangle is a poster boy for term limits and needs to go anyway.

I agree.

""Unfortunately the Iraq War, which began under the Bush Administration has been a deadly mistake and not worth the cost in lives of our young heroes. In the past eight years, 4,478 soldiers have paid the ultimate sacrifice; 33,169 have been wounded; and 1.5 million Iraqis lost their lives"".
~ Charles Rangel

Odd the Pat Robertson, Glenn Beck and many other righties now agree with the Korean war veteran Mr Rangel

I might add, that the on camera cry-baby Boehner and the GOP have total control of the House of Representatives, If Charlie Rangel was given a pass for any financial wrong doings, the blame lays squarely on the GOP leadership and the cowards they control

I wouldn't say "odd" so much as long-overdue.

Also, the Republicans' change of heart could be justified by the fact that outcome of Bush's Iraq adventure just got even worse. Perhaps before this development, they considered the price worthwhile.

Not that I'm going to carry water for them on this issue; Congress failed its duty by not impeaching Bush for his unnecessary invasion of Iraq and for entering war without Congress' authorization.

When Pat Robertson sees the folly of the Iraq war, its no wonder that the architects of that war are coming out to pin the blame for today's mess on Obama.

I just think it is a problem for any politician to hold a seat for 33 years, nothing good comes of it.

Is what I was thinking as well. Comes a point where they don't even live up to the "good enough for government work" standards.

Rangel is as corrupt as they come and it's time for him to get 'Cantored'. However I don't think it would even be comparable to what happened to Cantor and I would be surprised if it did happen.

Levin is another example of a Democrat that needs to go. He's actually going to retire though. Worthless @#$% that he is.

Seems to me chuck pulled some political strings just to get into the primary. He didn't have enough signatures.

I hope not. No way a Republican wins the seat, and it's better to have an old, ridiculous, liberal dnozzle than a younger one with more vim and vigor.

Go Charlie!

... "Could Charles Rangel Get Cantored?"

**** NO HE CAN'T...Because the People Who support Rangel are Desperately Grasping...And He's Their Only Straw...so they think!

I'm not a fan of Rangel because of his ethics violations but he gets re-elected because his political ideology represents his district. Cantor did not.

The guy running against him is a Democratic Senator so he has at least the potential to win. Quite a step down though - Senator to Rep...
