Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Wednesday, June 18, 2014

While Iraq's military claimed Wednesday to have driven back militants battling for control of the country, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff told Congress that the United States has received a request from the Iraqi government to use its air power in the conflict. Gen. Martin Dempsey, the senior ranking member of the U.S. armed forces, spoke before the Senate Appropriations Committee Wednesday on Capitol Hill in Washington, saying that the United States' "national security interest [is] to counter [ISIS] where we find them."

Malaki and Iran are allies. The greatest unintended consequence of Shrub's Iraq invasion and installation of Shia Malaki, is how it strengthened Iran's regional power. For this reason ISIS is a friend of convenience of the USA, with equally convenient plausible deniability. Meanwhile, Baathists operate in the background, making the rise of ISIS even possible.

Most of the fighting in the last few decades has been proxy wars between Saudi Arabia and Iran, our involvement included.

Hillary made a little news in her Fox interview last night by completely throwing Malaki and his 3 Stooges government under the proverbial bus.

True but the bigger news was in what was not even mentioned by Fox.

Not once in the whole 30 minutes.

Bush should have lit up Saudi Arabia if he was going to attack any country after 9/11.
The Village Idiot attacked the wrong country not once, but TWICE!

Tell Iraq NO. Straighten your own crap out!

These "tribes" have been fighting each other for thousands of years, the only thing we could do to stop it is NUKE the whole Middle East, something I DON'T suggest.

The best thing we could do is let the whole mess descend into an Islamic hell. The Sunni may have had some early success, but they are outnumbered three to one, and Iran will not let this friendly government fall. Expect the civil war we tried to contain, come to fruition. There will be blood. Iraq will become a vassal state to Iran and this will set up a war with Saudi Arabia. The term Caliphate has been used quite a lot by the combatants. Last year I used that term describing the objectives of the Islamist and I was labeled "Glen Beck Crazy". I guess time will tell.
