Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Sunday, June 15, 2014

Casey Kasem, who entertained radio listeners for almost four decades as the host of countdown shows such as American Top 40 and Casey's Top 40, died early Sunday. He was 82 and had been hospitalized in Washington state for two weeks. Kasem had been suffering from Lewy body disease, the most common type of progressive dementia after Alzheimer's. Kasem also voiced the characters of Shaggy on the cartoon Scooby-Doo, which premiered in 1969, and Robin on Super Friends.

Kasem had recently been the subject of a bitter court battle involving three of his children by a previous marriage and his wife, Jean. His oldest children, who challenged their stepmother for control of Kasem's medical decisions in his last months, are not fighting his wife for possession of his remains.

Man, I grew up listening to him and watching Scooby Doo in the 1970s. What a sad way to die, demented while a family fights over your fortune.

Keep your feet on the ground and keep reaching for the stars.

Sadly coverage of his death are not nearly as wide as some sports dude that died, and one that I had never heard of until his death. Why do we worship sports people so much?

I remember listening to him to on KRLA when I was a kid. It was him along with the real Don Steel KHJ and Sam riddle KFWB.

RIP Casey.

Keep your feet planted in the ground and keep reaching for the worms...

Hated both Top 40 and scooby-doo....

...but did like Johnny Quest. Something about a cartoon where kids are given advanced weapons to shoot at the bad guys and somehow never miss.

Scooby-Doo, it was always some greedy businessman in a monster costume. The mystery is easily solved with a claymore.

A big part of every Gen-X-er's life. RIP. Your voice lives on on Sirius /XM 70's every Sunday like it always did.
