Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

With the call to arms today by Iraq's most revered Shiite cleric, the crisis in Iraq threatens to become an even broader regional sectarian conflict. But it could also bring about unusual cooperation between the U.S. and Iran, who have a mutual interest in stemming Sunni militants' lightning advance across Iraq this week. "If they want to save Iraq they are going to have to work together," said Rouzbeh Parsi, an Iran-Iraq specialist at Lund University. "The U.S. is not going to put any troops on the ground. When it comes to whatever troops are on the ground, it's going to be the Iranians."

Hmmm, will the US finally do the right thing and liberate Saudistan? We all know (because they said so) that they are the banker and arms supplier for the sunnis.

Always said Bush should have gone after saudistan in 2001, but he obviously didn't want to start a fraticidal war with his buddies.

This assumes that our president has a strategy, or a doctrine.

What is it?

Well yeah that little 9/11 pay back for the mysterious death of the late business partner who died after it was apparent their business venture of baby Georges, Arbusto Energy biz was going belly up... (well until daddy made himself VP and slowed its demise it as Arbusto Exploration) kinda takes the shine off getting into snits with those people.

The righty tighties have delivered 3 generations of politicians with their family's fortune talons sunk in ME oil business. They stood up and cheered at their latest elected offering staged a made for T.V. movie that engaged the U.S. military in the worlds largest drive by shooting to get that man who tried to kill his dadd-eh. Hell they even went to church and asked Jesus to give them some help.

Give them about 15 minute to jump up and down insisting that Obama has mob ties because he lived in Chicago.

We used Iran before, forgot it, and turned on them. It has less to do with Iran and lots to do with Israel.

Liberals looking for a silver lining, when there is none.

Why, exactly, would any country choose to be an "ally" of an America with Barack Hussein Obama living in the White House? The term means nothing. If you're leading a government in an unstable part of the world, best to cozy up with Moscow or Beijing, or with al Queda or one of the legion of terror groups around the world.

Ally? Nope.

Least bad option being working with them against Al-Qaeda? Possible.

Let the civil war begin. No one stopped the US from having its civil war and in many respects, we are better off for having had it. People have to learn to live together and if the only way they can learn to live with each other is by fighting, so be it.
