Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Saturday, June 14, 2014

News of poor conditions at a holding center in Arizona for unaccompanied illegal immigrant children caused Sarah Palin to declare she was on the verge of renouncing her ties to the Republican Party. "Finally, they have won me over. I actually agree with the liberals' war whoop," the partial-term Alaska governor wrote on her Facebook page. "I, too, demand that this issue of young illegal aliens flooding across our border into horrendous conditions be taken care of. Now!"

"She then accused President Barack Obama of orchestrating the "crisis" in Arizona in order to advance his own immigration reform agenda.

But lest anyone thought Palin was siding with Democrats who have called for giving legal status to undocumented children, she added in a post-script to her note that she would prefer to deport the children:"

This B is whack, man.

Me thinks caribou barbie is approaching rock bottom if she's agreeing with liberals in her desperate quest for validation from others.

We all know what her likely next step will be.

Is it the "Liberals" that support open borders and NAFTA or employers like Microsoft and meat packing plants behind the silent blind eye our Government has about illegal & legal immigration and offshoring of jobs?

Exactly. We have an illegal employer problem. The President could solve the problem in a day or two by parking a Border Patrol car outside the entrance to every meat packing plant, agricultural operation, and major construction site. The next day we would hear the CEOs howling outside his door all across the country.

There is something called "ratification by acquiescence" that Makes us all guilty. We eat in restaurants knowing the staff is undocumented. Anthony Bourdain in his book said the restaurant industry would collapse without them and the best French chefs are Guatemalan. Who cleans your house, roofed your house, built your house, mows your lawn? We don't care as long as they work cheaply.

To get cheap products and services we pay them substandard wages and then complain that those "brown people" live in squalid conditions. If they get hurt on the job at the most they will get dropped off at the emergency room where we end up paying the bill.

Could we not at least make employers responsible for on-the-job injuries of undocumented workers? Of course not because our politicians are mostly bought and paid for by big money. We might call them prostitutes but that would be an insult to real prostitutes who work hard providing a service.

You poor liberal losers just can't get enough of Sarah Palin. I find it so funny. Stick with Shillary she more fun than poking a possum to see if its still alive.

Why just this week Shillary said she was flat broke when she left the white house. maybe she got flat broke mixed up with trillionaire. I mean come on man Bill gets $400,000. every year for life and she pretends she's flat broke? They got millions in book deals before they left the white house. I am beginning to believe Carl Rove might just be right and Shillary's got dain bramage.

Or more precisely, a capitalist problem. It's capitalism that wants a "constant, unrelenting stream of immigrants" as Joe Biden, corporate whore, puts it.

The parallels with the illegal drug trade/illegal drug use are quite staggering.

7: Not brain damage, just a liar. Or politician.

To be at least a little bit fair, they did have millions in legal fees outstanding. But "flat broke"--offensive, really. Then again, she lost me years ago. If she wins the nom, I just hope there's a reasonable Republican I can vote for. (*snort guffaw cough choke*)

My house was roofed by 2 Americans good ol' boy rednecks. They did a darn fine job. My house was painted by a buddy of theirs also a good ol' boy. My lawn is mowed by a salt of the earth american (black if it matters) he does a good job and his rates are a bit higher but we like him. House was built in the 70's no idea who built it, we are the third owners, but unlikely they were illegal back then. We clean our own house. Since we almost never go out to eat can't blame me there either.

Lots of folks I know try very hard not to support illegal immigration. What would be helpful is if the government would do a better job. Fake ID's that will convince people are fairly easy and there are groups that sell stolen SSN's to illegals so it is tough for most people to know. I used to hire in the construction industry and I saw it first hand. Blaming the contractors is ridiculous. Sure some don't give a crap but many are trying.

Out here in Arizona a Christian group sets out bottles of water on the path that these children take through the dessert, they say that is what Jesus would do. Then the Christian NRA gun-nuts go out in the dessert and use the bottles as targets. The videos are all over the net. The idiot gun nuts cheer every time a life-saving water bottle is destroyed

That is illegal.

There are legal sanctuary stations that I used to fill with water, but we could not put them on a path, or outside the sanctuary. Typically this is on BLM land..

No she hasn't, we would like the border to be protected and the DREAM act execution rescinded. For it to be announced so potential immigrants don't see any incentive in coming here illegally. Your misrepresentation, or misunderstanding is unfortunate. Perhaps spending more time understanding what people are saying versus putting words in their mouths would help you.

While the system can never be perfect, cracking down on FAKE id's and contractors that hire would go along way.

We are along way from that...... I am not blaming contractors I am blaming the government.

My worry as a former contractor is that a crack down on hiring would be devastating to contractors who got duped by fake ID's.

If there were some sure fire no cost way for a contractor to be sure than by all means crack down, but until I hear that way I would say a crack down would simply be used by the larger contractors who could afford ID checks to shut down competition that couldn't afford it.

Your xenophobia causes you to miss the fact that our demographics are actually improved with every young Mexican that comes across our border and that those who actually endure the journey are most often the toughest, the smartest, the most likely to succeed. America is fortunate that thinking like yours didn't dominate in earlier eras.

Because no illegals came to America BEFORE it was announced, right Andrea?

D'uh, the ones who get "duped" are the ones who don't care.

As we speak it has been said Obama is setting up DNC indoctrination schools where these kids will be given uniforms and taught how to vote, how to be poor and how to be a good Democrat. The Democratic elites thrive on keeping voters poor and beholden while they think they are getting something for nothing.

But the Repub establishment does somewhat the same thing except they want to hire these kids as nannies and gardeners at $4/hr. They keep their minions arguing about gay marriage and abortion and somewhat poor too, while they give more tax cuts to the rich.

bring the troops home, put them on the border and prosecute companies that hire illegals, and begin mass deportation. Problem solved; no need for new laws, we got plenty of laws already.

Whoever gave NG3 a newsworthy flag knows as little about contractors hiring workers as he does.

First off a stolen SSN will not be caught in E-Verify unless it has been reported. Since these SSN's are not being used like typical ID theft they frequently go years uncaught.

Second when hiring short term contractor help until 2 years ago I would not have had internet access to use E-verify, now I could do it on my phone if it works with droid or iphone. I presume it does but not sure as I haven't been a contractor in over 2 years. Many contractors are not technically inclined so even today many can not do it on the fly.

"Again capitalism isn't the problem, greed is the problem,"

Capitalism is the system that rewards greed and punishes competitors who aren't as greedy.

Not true. Anthropologists say just the contrary. That's just the ideology of contemporary capitalist society, which most people are indoctrinated in.

Oh yes if we could be as progressive as socialist norway and sweden, two countries that are wait.....CAPITALIST.

If you want that model, promote it at the state level, but on the federal government level it will fail miserably to the sheer size of USA and diversity of the US.

Remember those Nordic countries you love so much:

A) Only have the technological prowess because of the USA (that goes for the rest of the world as well)

B) ARE CAPITALISTS

#32 | Posted by danv at 2014-06-15 06:11 PM | Reply | Flag:

Anthropologists are not necessarily trained how to understand power structures.

Here is a synopsis of the behavioral loop:

Step 1. Individual and group behaviors are biased by the MPP to generate maximum power, which requires over-reproduction and/or over-consumption of natural resources (overshoot), whenever systemic constraints allow it. Individuals and families will form social groups to generate more power by degrading more energy. Differential power generation and accumulation result in a hierarchical group structure.

Step 2. Energy is always limited, so overshoot eventually leads to decreasing power available to the group, with lower-ranking members suffering first.

Step 3. Diminishing power availability creates divisive subgroups within the original group. Low-rank members will form subgroups and coalitions to demand a greater share of power from higher-ranking individuals, who will resist by forming their own coalitions to maintain power.

Step 4. Violent social strife eventually occurs among subgroups who demand a greater share of the remaining power.

Step 5. The weakest subgroups (high or low rank) are either forced to disperse to a new territory, are killed, enslaved, or imprisoned.

Step 6. Go back to step 1.
