Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Friday, June 13, 2014

U.S. air bases, housing dozens of American fighters and bombers, are well within striking distance of Iraq. High-flying spy drones like the Global Hawk can just as easily fly over Iraq as Afghanistan or any other conflict zone in the region. The aircraft carrier U.S.S. George H.W. Bush is a few days' sail away, in the North Arabian Sea. And it boasts dozens more fighters on board.

Why are we so well prepared to strike Iraq but were so miserably prepared to defend Benghazi on 9-11 ?

Moronic comparison.

The real problem with air strikes is that the local tribes of civilians, who have been left out of the Iraqi government, are mingling with the ISIS jihadists making obvious military targets far and few between.

I see no point in that.....

The only thing Obama might be interested in doing this is to keep Iran at bay.

Time has passed best worry about the future, let them fight it out, doing the best we can to keep other interests out.

"is to keep Iran at bay."

Right. By propping up a Shia government in Iraq. (shaking head)

U.S. Aircraft Could Strike Iraq Tomorrow

But not today?

Why, would it though. Has Iraq invaded us? No? Then who cares. GTFO.

Oh, but the rules are....

If we don't strike Obama is an appeaser commie muslim coward waffler.

If we do strike Obama is a war mongering commie muslim waffler.

I'm glad you finally sized up Obama and realized what he is.

Your honesty is refreshing. Most of the rightwing retards around here refuse to admit that they will disagree with Obama no matter what he does.

Starting on 16 January 1991, a flight of B-52Gs flew from Barksdale AFB, Louisiana, refueled in the air en route, struck targets in Iraq, and returned home – a journey of 35 hours and 14,000 miles round trip.

I suspect there is no spot on Earth that is not in striking distance of US aircraft.

So we are going to war with Iraq?

Did we every really stop?

Stupid middle eastern countries.

They could all be like Saudi Arabia.

Getting paid billions by America for the freedom to be the worst human rights violators in the Middle East.

Can't our aircraft strike Iraq at any time? Don't we have planes that fly at mach 5? Don't we have airbases and aircraft carriers all over the world? WTF really?

Enough with wars and military actions, time to sit out of skirmishes for the next 50 years.
Time to get off of oil, and let the Middle East rot, like they insist on doing.

Yes, no, & yes.

Nobody in the world has mach 5 combat aircraft. Mach 5 aircraft only exist as unmanned, high performance test vehicles. We only have 3 deployed aircraft that can even make it to mach 1 with ordnance on board, the F-22 Raptor, F-35 Lightning II, and B-1B Lancer. None can do it carrying external ordnance.

This is a close air support issue anyways. Slower is better. Iraq needs A-10s, attack helicopters, some of those Air Tractors converted for ground attack, even some surplus Su-25 if they could get their hands on some.

He could send a plane to drop leaflets on them telling that his has drawn a line in the sand and that they had better not cross it or he will # them!
