Apple's seven-for-one stock split went into effect Monday, making shares of the tech giant trade at around $94, significantly down from Friday's closing of $645.57. Investor Sandra Samuels, 74, of Winston, North Carolina, bought 300 shares Monday, which was on top of the 700 she already owned (she had 100 shares before the split). "Everyone in my family owns at least one Apple thing," she said. "Warren Buffett says buy what you own."

No thanks.

Just because they flooded the market with new shares does not make it a good buy. In fact the stock has a history of topping in the run up to the split.

Yes, and then a long-term history of growth and stock price appreciation.

Really? You mean owning seven shares at $94 isn't much better than owning one at $646?

Will wonders never cease.

"Warren Buffett says buy what you own."

Pretty sure it was Peter Lynch that said that, not Buffett.

Apple stock will be available to the little guy when it becomes a public benefit. Like Obamacare.

Apple has rode the wave of revolutionary products for a while.

The latest products are not innovative and are just mild improvements over previous ones, with other companies products leapfrogging over them.

Just about everyone of my staff with an iPhone have cracked screens or power button or charging connection problems. Apple is proving itself to be extremely ordinary these days.

Weird, 726 - my experience is my friends with Droids have those issues, but my friends with iPhones don't. Limitations of anecdotal evidence, I guess. (Though I am aware of two iPads with cracked screens...)

Seriously, have you ever tried to slice an apple into 7 pieces?

Why 7?
