Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Monday, June 09, 2014

Bill McBride, Calculated Risk: A big difference between the presidencies has been public sector employment. Note the bumps in public sector employment due to the decennial Census in 1980, 1990, 2000 and 2010. The public sector grew during Carter's term (up 1,304,000), during Reagan's terms (up 1,414,000), during G.H.W. Bush's term (up 1,127,000), during Clinton's terms (up 1,934,000), and during G.W. Bush's terms (up 1,744,000 jobs). However the public sector has declined significantly since Obama took office (down 710,000 jobs). These job losses have mostly been at the state and local level, but more recently at the Federal level. This has been a significant drag on overall employment.

In the final months of the Bush-Cheney-GOP recession the USA was hemorrhaging 700,000++ jobs per month, Now under the Kenya born, Socialist-Communist-Marxist Muslim dictator HUSSEIN Obama we have had 53 months of private sector job growth, and a reduction of 710,000++ public sector jobs (something the right-wing loons have been calling for 80 years

The contractor profits continue to rise from the ashes of the economic melt down of 2008. Has very little to do with this thread. Not even a good distraction.

Does a nice job of showing the magnitude of the recession. It took roughly 24 months for government job losses to bottom out back in the 1980s compared to 48 now.

Is it physically impossible for you to approve of anything under obama? Does that make you forfeit your hannity fan club card?

Even I can admit Dubya did a couple things right. He was the dumbest president we've ever had and left this nation in shambles, but I have the intellectual honesty to admit he did SOME things right. Can you do the same for obama?
Here, I'll go first:
Dubya extended daylight savings time.
And he created tax deductible health savings accounts.

Now its your turn. Name ONE thing obama has done that you could praise him for, without sarcasm. Just one.

You're wasting your time. He would rather eat a mile of boogers than admit anything of the sort, despite the fact that he was of the main culprits whining about there being too many gov't jobs.

I'm all for reducing the size of the federal government, but I'd like to see the data that shows which parts of the federal government are shrinking before I award kudos. It is interesting that the federal government (in this case, the President) is credited for reductions in government jobs that are mostly attributed to reductions at the state and local level, which are more than likely a consequence of restricted budgets due to the weak economy.

Sammy, you are an partisan IDIOT. Here is why,

1) Neither Bush or Obama have any direct control over who gets fired or hired in the private sector. This is not, yet, a communist country.

2)RUBES like you make illogical associations between the sitting president and the current economic situation. Obama can not create private sector jobs, but he can retard economic growth by increasing regulations (which he has done).

3) Only a simple-minded fool blames Bush for the sub-prime market/derivatives disaster. For your education purposes, I will inform you that there another branch of government called the legislator or congress. They wrote and passed the laws that allowed the sub-prime disaster to occur, they are also supposed to also be overseeing such financial enterprises

en.wikipedia.org

The kicker is BOTH parties screwed the American people (probably on purpose)

4) If you bother to read the article you find that the majority of the government jobs decline is in the state and local governments.

Your welcome sammy, I devoted more time to you than you deserve, but hey, I am all about love (trying to be at least).

We tend to give individual Obama way too much credit and blame for our economy. Other than frittering away trillions of dollars on unnecessary wars there really isn't that much a Prez does to significantly change the nation's overall state.

Sounds like a convenient excuse to me after the current WH denizen sounded like the second coming and all the marooooooons bought into it. Of course, the POTUS can influence the ultimate direction of the economy. We needed drastic change and we got the usual "whimper" from a guy that doesn't know what it takes to lead while being reactive and incompetent for a job he should have never sought. He was way out of his element from an experience standpoint and now after 6 years we're further behind the 8 ball then when he came into office. If we don't get a POTUS in the WH that understands what it will take to reverse our slide and then attempt to implement real change, the system will eventually make the change of its' own accord and it won't be pretty.

Yes there are unions. duh. And their job is to protect the rights of workers. But, as I pointed out, not all government workers belong to them. And I -------------- that not all government employees vote democratic or in their best interest.

For example, a lot of the DOD. The military has *traditionally voted Republican for decades.

I have now provided you several examples of where you are full of it.

How many examples do YOU have that you are not?

You make all these rash statements that look like they came right from the pages of some wing nut daily webpage or Fox News like that has some kind of credibility. Just because warped ideology leads you to claim that is the way things are does not make it so.

Try actually researching what you are going to say sometimes and at least attempt to do a reality check to at least attempt to verify the validity of your talking point. A link or two for the source of your beliefs might also help your credibility.

Unless, of course, you afraid to share your sources with the group for fear we will laugh at you.

We all get fooled from time to time by party propaganda, it is what the two party system is designed to do (IMO). So lets end it.
