The U.S. Navy rescued 282 people believed to be African migrants from six small vessels in the Mediterranean Sea after one of the boats began to sink, the military said Saturday. Five of the rescued were medically evacuated Friday to nearby Malta and the remaining 277 people were transferred to an offshore patrol vessel belonging to Malta's military. The amphibious assault ship USS Bataan and the frigate USS Elrod received a call Friday from an Italian military marine patrol aircraft, which spotted the sinking boat and five others.

Hopefully the boats the Europeans ship them back in will be more seaworthy than the ones they built for themselves.

The current Australian govt, has a policy of using their Navy to stop the boats and turn them back to Indonesia. It will not allow any, repeat not allow, any refugee boats to land in Australia.

Wondered about that strange name Elrod and came up with this: a real hero.

"Obama's fault"???? Nope. Not even a little bit.

It is the fault of the U.S. Navy and Italian and Maltese military forces.
