The family of former Taliban prisoner Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl is receiving threats, according to authorities. William Facer, a spokesman for the FBI's Salt Lake City division, said Saturday, "The FBI continues to monitor the situation in Hailey, Idaho. We are working jointly with our state and local partners and taking each threat seriously."

The Bergdahl situation is rapidly becoming yet another instance of the GOP playing with fire without understanding the volatility of what they're playing with.

When will these [...]holes learn stoking their base with anger, paranoia and fear for short term gain is bound to end badly for all involved in the long term?

When will liberals figure it out that trading 5 high level terrorists for a deserter whos actions got 5 others killed in his unit does not sit well with people. So how many American's getting a folded up flag is worth this deserter be traded. He made his choice and should be pay the price.

Probably the about the same time righties figure out they're below average IQ filth who only have the time to mouth off because far too many menial, unskilled jobs have been shipped over seas or given to illegals.

So how many American's getting a folded up flag is worth this deserter be traded.

Answer honestly now.

Did you lament all the assured folded flags when we lied our way into Iraq?

He made his choice and should be pay the price.

Apparently it's thought by others with far more information than you that he has.

And if he hasn't then we can rest assured he will.

I have a few questions for you, though. Don't you think it better we get him back and force him to do time in a manner controlled by us than abandoning him and leaving him no incentive to spill his guts completely? If he has already, then don't you think it's best we actually get a hold of him to make sure that that is addressed/punished? At the very least this deprives them the ability to parade an American soldier around as one of their own for propaganda purposes for what? Five guys out of thousands (tens or hundreds of thousands?) who've been rotting in a prison for a decade.

Unless we released General Zod and his minions those five guys can't amount to much at all.

Unless you have an axe to grind. Then they mean the world.

ZACK. There are things you do which don't sit well with people. One supposes you would be put out if someone offered to kill you for them.

Jpw squawks without saying anything.

Why is it that dems criticize this trade, dems criticize that scum Bergdahl, dems walk out of the WH briefing, dems call the swap illegal, surely dem soldiers have spoken out about that scumbag Bergdahl, but jpw mindlessly thinks only registered republicans are the supposed threateners?

That stooge always whines about republicans while whining about partisans...
Stick to gun threads, zero

About the time conservatives realize that Reagan should have been impeached for trading arms for hostages with Iran, you know negotiating with terrorists....

The GOP had wanted Obama to "do all he can" to secure Bergdahl's release, right up to the time Bergdahl was released.

Just one more instance of hypocritical opposition via talking point to whatever Obama does.

Bergdahl was promoted twice in captivity, he was listed as missing/captured not as a deserter.

An investigation may or may not find the truth of the matter but must everything be a partisan political pundit parade?

They said this often, when the goal was to paint Obama as being weak.

They're dogs. Whatever Obama does, they've been conditioned to growl.

Being promoted has nothing to do with nothing, as anyone not carrying obamapoms knows.
And as far as "do all he can", surely nobody meant give away the store, or put any more people in jeopardy. Clearly there are common sense limits. If the Taliban said they'd release him if Obama droned Atlanta, would you be on board? Do you think that's what your "GOP" bogeymen meant?

A partisan political pundit parade was started by honor and distinction Susan Rice. Or do you not understand the timeline?

How do you know that he is a deserter? I thought that determination had to be made by a military court.

Also, what makes the Taliban terrorists? They weren't terrorists when the US helped them and fighters loyal to Osama Bin Laden kick the Soviets out of Afghanistan.

The Taliban was running the government in Afghanistan when the US invaded. We should have left Afghanistan after we had kicked Al Qaeda's butt. Our continued presence in Afghanistan is an affront its former governors; the Taliban. I am sure they think of themselves as freedom fighters, trying to rid their country of occupation forces; just as they did with the Soviets and just as the citizens of any occupied country should do.

Obama created this controversy when he tried to portray Bergdahl as some kind of an Audie Murphy figure. Then he sent his trained liar Rice to the Sunday news shows to double down on the spin.

True. If the US were invaded, and you were taken prisoner, held for years, and then released in an exchange, you'd likely go right back to doing your best to fight off the invaders.

And you'd be right to do so.

Any fans of Vichy France around?

but jpw mindlessly thinks only registered republicans are the supposed threateners?/i>

My dig on righties was a swipe at the poster I was addressing. Nothing more.

Read my history. I have no problem criticizing Dems or Repubs alike. My views more often than not align with the Dems, so it's no surprise my criticisms are more often leveled at Repubs.

In regards to the swap, I've yet to see an opinion against it that wasn't simple or emotional. It seems most are about 'Murica! saving face because people for some reason think it needs to.

All of them are 50 year old losers. Only one was a "high level" as for the others whom ever they were in charge of are sleeping with the virgins. All of them are drone targets. Seriously 13 years later and you still think they are relevant? You give them more credit than they deserve.

The most disturbing thing about this is the cowardice of the right wing.

Don't tell us. Tell Dianne Feinstein, and the other Democrats on the Senate Intelligence Committee who voted unanimously--two years ago--that these 50-year olds should be kept in a cage.

So how do you explain that? Is this some kind of S&M bondage fetish for Dianne? And where do you live? Same place Logan's Run happened? Most generals and admirals in the US military are over the age of 50. It would be surprise to them to learn they're not relevant.

You're really a moron. It's going to be fun watching your posts, just so I can kick sand in your face.

Diane Feinstein is better than anything ever issued from the clown brigade. I mean seriously what is your answer to Feinstein? Bachman, Palin, O'Donnell... you're a joke. You have nothing. The most significant thing in your camp is the leadership least productive congress in US history staging the government walk out to nowhere and shutdown for nothing.

When our forces started using depleted uranium shells in Iraq, thereby causing a huge increase in birth defects, conservatives finally and permanently lost the right to ever again play the right to life card.
