Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

Charles Krauthammer says he supports President Barack Obama's deal to bring Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl home. "Had the choice been mine I would have made the same choice," Krauthammer told Fox News' Special Report on Wednesday. "It's a difficult decision, and I would not attack those who have done otherwise."

Krauthammer said those in the West "put a value on the individual human life the way that the ones at the other end of the table don't," specifically citing an example in which Israelis had to release 1,000 terrorists in exchange for one sergeant who had been taken captive. "These are dangerous militants, but we have long engaged in and all other countries in the West have engaged in hostage swaps where the West always comes out on the short end," he said.

He would...... :)

Usually its the remains the Israelis swap. But in the case of Galid, it was 1027, and those released had killed 500+ Israelis....

That was a bad deal.... This is why kidnapping is up in Israel....

5 in swap for 1 US Soldier is not bad, if it's 5 severed Taliaban heads.

Obama thought he had a slam dunk good news item that would wipe away Benghazi, and the VA coverup. He figured wrong.

What were we supposed to do with them, SAMES? Couldn't charge them with a crime. They aren't terrorists. No longer enemy combatants. Can't hold them indefinitely. What were we supposed to do with them?

My first post on this issue was actually supportive of Obama. At that time of that post the only problems I was aware of were the lack of congressional notification and the 5 to 1 ratio. All minor issues for getting back one of ours.

But at this point it is pretty obvious that Bergdahl is NOT 'one of ours', and that we have known that for a long time.

The only legit purpose we have for wanting Bergdahl is to shoot him.

Eddie Slovik was only a coward, Bergdahl is vastly vastly vastly more deserving of a bullet than Slovik ever was. I find it easy to forgive Slovik and to have sympathy for him or anyone like him. To the best of my knowledge Slovik never voiced support of the enemy over his own side.

Yeah, somehow he's still naive enough to think the right won't reflexively go ape [...] about how his action is the end of the world.

I've followed this topic only in passing because it's finally gotten to the point where I'm disgusted by the politics and people in this country.

#8 | POSTED BY USAF242

Even the terrorists didn't want to shoot him. Yet you would shoot an American POW guilty before charged? Shooting an American POW is what America and the troops are fighting for?

Maybe Obama should have ordered a drone strike instead. Would that have made you, Fox News and Fox's Republican minions happy?

I can't believe what I'm seeing. Obamaphobia has gone way beyond crazy. Never in a million years would I have imagined so many people outraged over a POW coming home.

A POW coming home equals outrage. The thousands of deaths along the way equals "meh". I don't get it.

Why not? The Zero shoots Americans before charged.

Wow, seriously?

Obama shoots them himself? There has to be pictures of that somewhere. Anywhere!

What would have been your choice of action in this situation?

No, then they would have ------- that he killed an American without due process.

Or they would have cheered it but then conveniently ignored their own "Constitutional" rhetoric.

There's no winning with these losers. Whatever they think or say in the moment is what's correct. Expecting consistency with the past or being consistent is...ahem...liberal.

"Why not? The Zero shoots Americans before charged."

So wait. Shooting an mastermind of terrorism that has renounced his American life is the same as being a pow for years.

They both deserve drone strikes.

Stumps logic.

Personally I would have shot the 5 terrorist and Bergdahl at the same time just to show the Taliban we meant business.

That reminds me of a joke I heard a black comedian make one time. He said he was married to a white woman but if a race war ever broke out he'd shoot her first just to show he meant business.

If I was held prisoner I would pretend to convert to what ever religion my captors wanted if I thought it would buy me time. If I was told to read some statement I did not believe I would have done it knowing everyone that knew me would know I was forced to say it but also know I was still alive. The war is Afghanistan is ending the Seal Team got their man and that was the only reason the US went to war there. In all wars prisoners are released even some really bad ones. America has not yet left its men behind no matter how he was caught or if he committed any crimes before capture, it will up to his commanders to decide to go forward not a bunch of guys that want to use this to Make Obama look bad or win a few primary votes from people that get their news from only one source and believe everything they are told.

Just like Obamacare, this will eventually prove to have been the right move and Obama haters will end up with egg on their face (again). Krauthammer is just the first of other prominent, "thoughtful" conservatives that will speak up in support of the exchange.

Bergdahl had made rank. How bad of a soldier could he be? You think the guy deserves to have his head swinging by a hank of hair gripped in a clinched fist on the end of an outstretched arm while someone sings a rousing rendition of Allah Akbar? Would that make you happy? What tune would the republiclowns be singing then? Would you and your crazy friends shout praises for Obama that he let this guy die so he could continue keeping a pack of has been losers in jail. I don't think so. You would be bawling about that. You clowns love talking big stuff but it takes so little to frighten you.

This is how its going to play out.

Obama closes GITMO and another big campaign promise accomplished.

The ----------- fail to overturn the ACA and a campaign promise...... welllllll.... you know.....

Hey bin Laden's dead.
Taxes were raised on the wealthiest Americans.
Unemployment is down.
DOMA is history,
Obama didn't have to be shown Hurricane Sandy on re-run
Benghazi? What Benghazi?
Gaddhafi is history.

Oh did I mention Obama won reelection by a landslide?

All that without congressional help.

POSTED BY RIGHTISTRITE>

Sorry, rightistrite -- that campaign promise has already been broken:

Shortly after being sworn in, Obama did sign an executive order that required that the Guantanamo prison be closed within a year.

"The detention facilities at Guantánamo for individuals covered by this order shall be closed as soon as practicable, and no later than 1 year from the date of this order," read the statement he signed on Jan. 22, 2009.

You have to understand Goatmam logic. If something positive happens under Obama's watch (e.g., Osama killed), then it was the special forces who did it. If something arguably negative happens (e.g., drone strike against terrorist American abroad), then Obama did it.

Get it? (It's a symptom of hyper-partisanship, of which Goatmam has a bad case.)

That damn righty, Michael Hutchinson. When he did that right wing hit piece on Bergdahl in The Rolling Stone a couple years back, I was so angry I could scream.
What I can't figure out is why Hutchinson wrote that swift boat article years before knowing their was a deal in place. He must have been damn smart, or damn lucky to set Obama up like that...
Or, check this out...maybe Bergdahl is a contemptible pos, that went AWOL from a combat outpost, and wreaked havoc on operations at the time due to his selfish and dangerous actions?

You stooges sure are entertaining. Do you believe if you eat enough crap that Obama won't have to?
