A high school drama teacher in Bellingham, Washington, is in trouble for her edgy end-of-the-year awards ceremony for drama students. One irate mother in attendance said, "The final straw was when a joke was told on stage about a teacher, a lawyer and a priest on a plane. The plane was going down and the teacher says, 'We have to save the children!' The attorney says 'F--- the children!' And the priest says 'OOOOH ... Do we have time for that?" Teacher Teri Grimes, 62, issued a formal apology on Tuesday.

Old joke, but too hip for the room.

So she was wrong, but the parent leaped to nonsense about what is being taught in our SCHOOLS. One must love illogical citizens.

C'mon, what's a drama school award without some drama?

The crazy, inappropriate teachers were always the most beloved when I was in school.

The best was this guy who taught computer classes. Not many girls signing up for elective classes like PASCAL back in the day so most of the time the class would be all boys, which provided him the opportunity to really speak his mind. You could get 45 minutes of pure gold from him just by starting off the class with "Hey Mr. P, what would do if [insert ridiculous scenario]?"

To this day, my friends still quote his advice on marriage:

"The ------- you get ain't worth the ------- you get!"

The sexual abuse of children is NOT a joking matter, adding the F ___bomb only makes it more egregious If I was the superintendent of schools this idiot would be a FORMER teacher.

Never does a day go by, that we do not read about some absolutely outrageous comments or actions from the folks in red states. The recent story of the pea-party activist spying on a women with dementia in a nursing home is just a perfect example

Righties have NO boundaries

This tasteless joke is just the tip of the iceberg that is Common Core.

The mother added, "WE need to get the word out there that THIS is the kind of TRASH that is being taught in our schools. I am so shocked right now I am in tears."

Bit of a drama queen herself. Tool.

What a boring, lame, humorless life you must lead.

I thought the joke was hilarious.

Funny joke.

What's the problem?

America lost its sense of humor?

An oldie but a goodie.

And lighten up, Sammy. If altar boys didn't want it, they wouldn't dress that way ;-)

Libs 'educating': just typical [crass/not class] behavior from the left - nothing new here and not unexpected considering the source.

It WAS funny, 10 years ago when it first appeard.
Totally inapropriate for a school setting.

It violates the separation of church and state. Her joke was a direct bash against religion. If we cannot promote religion in school, we cannot bash it either.

16: Just typical broad-brushing from the left.

This teacher speaks neither for the left nor for teachers. Do you think that Akin guy speaks for all conservatives or all Republicans? No. Then shut up.

Points! Teaching as a career move is over, anyway. Go out memorably, I say. Good for that teacher.

it wasn't just her (the teacher) off-color old joke, it was her language in general throughout the ceremony and at the end one of the awards given was a sex toy for a male student.

you want your teenage daughter hearing and seeing that at school?
