Former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer has signed a binding agreement to buy the Los Angeles Clippers for $2 billion from the Sterling family trust, CNN reports. Ballmer, who attended several Clippers playoff games, told the Wall Street Journal this month he would not move the team from Los Angeles.

I would have thought Apple would have to buy a basketball team first in order for this to happen.

I wonder if Ballmer will be interested in developing the team?

Racist rewarded 2 Billion for comments!

2 billion was what I guessed because when you're going for something that doesn't come up for sale for decades, you gotta blow away the owners and 2 billion does that. Figure 1.3 Billion after taxes.

Not sure NBA will approve current deal because it seems wife will still have some involvement.

I didn't think LA's second favorite NBA team could possibly be worth that much.

If the deal happens, it will put the Lakers in an interesting predicament. Struggling on the court and with a big money, high profile, racist vanquishing owner in town looking to prove himself with the Clippers.

Twocents hit on the head. Has the deal gone through? 2 billion for The Clippers? You kidding me! I know they have a team now,p but that name has been synonymous with diarrhea for 30 years. If the Clippers are worth 2 billion then Real Madrid must be worth 20, or more. I hope the league does something about this travesty and doesn't reward Donald D**che with that ludicrous amount.

A conjecture that I heard on a sports talk show. Since the sale is forced then the Sterling's do not have to pay capital gains taxes. Much like an eminent domain sale of a home. If true it would save them about 300 million per billion of sale.
Maybe Sterling is crazy... like a fox.

The Bucks just sold for $550 million. How could the Clippers be worth 4 times that much?

Taxes are for the little people.

Because the Bucks suck and they are in Milwauke. While the Clippers are in LA.

Clippers fans will soon tire of the messages after a loss.... "a fatal exception has occurred"

The little people in America only think we have a meritocracy and democracy when the 2% that own the media, the oligarchy, the SCOTUS and most politics, are criticized, and those who complain are portrayed as racists.

Ballmer is in the same media tribe as "Sterling" and it should be noted that the racist is rewarded.

Probably the same way a haircut in LA can cost 4 times as much as a haircut in Milwaukee.

But Oprah thought she was going to get the team for 50 million.

this is insane...the whole story is insane...I bet Sterling is so sad he has to take 2 billion dollars..and now he is going to use a couple million of that to sue the NBA.

America...what a country!
