Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Sunday, May 25, 2014

Billionaire Petro Poroshenko claimed Ukraine's presidency on Sunday after exit polls gave him an absolute majority in a first round of voting. Poroshenko, a confectionery magnate with long experience in government, vowed to end a conflict with pro-Russian rebels and pledged to align his country with Europe. Poroshenko is hardly a new face in Ukrainian politics, having served in a cabinet under former President Viktor Yanukovich and also under a previous government led by Yanukovich's foes. This breadth of experience has given him a reputation as a pragmatist capable of bridging Ukraine's divide between supporters and foes of Moscow.

The turmoil in the Ukraine is NONE of the USA's business, HUSSEIN Obama and the rest of our politicians should just SHUT-UP and mind their own business, especially the nutty sore losers McCain and Palin. The folks in the Ukraine will work this out, and don't need ..or want our help.

"The turmoil in the Ukraine is NONE of the USA's business"

Yes, but these Clintonites and neo-cons never saw an intervention they didn't like.

The Ukraine asked for our help and got it in the form of sanctions... which, isolationists notwithstanding, appear to have helped convince that rwing and Puritopian Hero Vlad to say he would recognize this election and pull out troops.

The Ukraine PEOPLE did not ask for our help ! Their stupid government did, and now admit that it was a huge mistake.

Of topic I know, but I hope that the turmoil in the Ukraine does not adversely effect the upcoming 2014 Ukraine Gay Pride celebration

Happy Gay Pride to all the folks in the Ukraine and Russia

Putin has been in bed with the oligarchs of the former Soviet Union since he ran the state's security apparatus. Capo di tutti capi, that's our boy Vlad.

Oh look! Maidan and its EU CIA backers overthrew one oligarch only to replace him with another. We need to stay out this boondoggle before one side pledges loyalty to Al Quada and McCain flys over for photo ops and our Dear Leader supplies them weapons....

Putin wants Ukraine to pay for gas but he just stole Crimea? How much is that territory worth?

#10: Take the amount Russia was previously paying to rent the naval bases, and multiply it by the relative size of Crimea as a whole.

What a comical and corrupt vote. Only allow one political spectrum on the ballot and pretty much froze out a whole swath of the country. Yeah, I'm sure everyone will get behind this farce.
