Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

A 25-year-old man who put on a bulletproof vest and asked to be shot was killed Wednesday morning in Honea Path, S.C. Blake Randall Wardell put on a bulletproof vest he had found and asked his friend Taylor Ann Kelly, 18, to shoot him. The shot from her small caliber weapon went above the Kevlar of the vest and into Wardell's heart, killing him, Anderson County Deputy Coroner Don McCown said. Taylor has been charged with involuntary manslaughter.

What an utter failure. I hang my head in shame to be called a member of the human race.

No indication he had any kids, so I guess it's: Natural Selection 1, Blake Randall Wardell 0

Someone is going to say it sooner or later, so I'll be the first and get it overwith:

Natural Selection, as noted above, at its finest.

Should she be charged? I don't think so; she has to live with that the rest of her life - I don't see the point in imprisoning her; it's certainly not going to make her any smarter. And, I doubt very much if she'll ever pick up a gun again.

Humans are a huge disappointment to the Universe; God is even a bigger disappointment (assuming he/she/it exists).

God: "Why, yes! I made humans in my image! Why do you ask?"

Why would anyone want to be shot even if 100% sure the bullet wouldn't penetrate? I think these people failed basic HS physics and don't understand F = M x A. They think being shot is the same as having the bullet thrown at you. Being shot with a large caliber gun (as the one in the picture -- story doesn't say) is like having a brick hit you at 80 MPH.

I disagree, Larry. She should be charged and sentenced to prison until menopause.

Combining Booze and firearms leads to Cheney events.

"I disagree, Larry."

So do I. I don't think "feeling bad" about shooting someone is enough of a penalty.

Who knows, Chuckie Manson might have felt bad.

Maybe this should count as assisted suicide?

#9 | Posted by mariosanchez at 2014-05-16 12:06 AM | Reply | Flag:

No, it just counts as stupid people playing with harmless, inanimate tools.

"A 25-year-old man who put on a bulletproof vest and asked to be shot was killed..."

Same thing happened to Gary Hart years ago.

Zero doubt this guy will make the Darwin Awards for 2014.

Not sure if he'll be number one, only time will tell.

As much as I personally agree the idiot ----- should also be prevented from ever breeding, such orders a legal ruling need to be conditional.

(like the recent one where a deadbeat dad was ordered to stop having kids ==UNTIL== he starts paying, and catches up on, his existing child support orders (which is not even close to the same thing as ordering someone to not have kids at all].

Any time someone begins a conversation with "Hey y'all, watch this!"' It's gonna turn out badly .

Stupid rednecks.

Should she be charged? I don't think so ...

If you don't charge her with involuntary manslaughter when she accidentally kills somebody through reckless actions that could result in death, would you also not charge reckless drivers who kill people, people who leave a loaded gun around kids, and others who unintentionally kill people?

This seems to me like a textbook example of involuntary manslaughter. She should have to serve some kind of punishment for being foolish enough to shoot somebody -- whether jail or probation.

On the issue of charging her, depends on the charge.

Any charge that carries even a HINT of intent to harm is invalid.

But a charge that translates to "act of stupidity resulting in unintended death" would certainly fit.

Involuntary Manslaughter sounds about right.

Manslaughter seems steep on stupid.
No matter the charge, I hope we do not waste time paying for imprisonment on these two.
Waste of $.

Straight 'Manslaughter' would absolutely be incorrect.

"Involuntary Manslaughter" or some other charge that makes it crystal that it was an act of stupidity and not malice is correct. Especially as the largest stupid factor was on the part of the 'victim' (although the 'perp' also has a large heap of stupid she is responsible for, which is why a charge of some sort is appropriate....).

I think it's safe to say one of them (the male) won't be imprisoned.

What men won't do to try and get into a woman's pants.

At 2:40 am?

They were drinking and playing with guns.

If so it was negligence.

Don't be so sure it will be just involuntary manslaughter.

Depending on their State Law.

Illegal use of a weapon (while drunk)
Unlawful discharge
Reckless discharge
Intentional, Negligent, or Careless Discharge

To name a few possible charges.

Retards with guns. At least it wasn't a head shot.
