Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

Former Republican Sen. Marlow Cook, who gave Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell his first job in politics, said his protege has betrayed the citizens of Kentucky with his campaign to repeal Obamacare. "It tells me he's not looking out for his own constituency," Cook said. "Instead of stopping [Obamacare], they should be correcting the things in the bill that need correcting. But to say it should be killed? ... I don't have the vaguest idea how he has come to the point he has come."

""I don't mind someone being a conservative," Cook remarks. "But to stand up and say, 'I'm the most conservative leader of the Senate ever'? Mitch did that, and I thought, 'My god.'….I don't have the vaguest idea how he has come to the point he has come.""

How? Money. He is paid to oppose the law. Even if it means hurting his constituents.

The Republicans have created a monster that will take them out of office if they don't claim to be the most conservative person running for office and thus they try to outdo each other over and over. Eventually, they become soulless monsters like Mitch McConnell.

If they did repeal Social Security, Medicare and the ACA, what would they have left to run on?

Mitch is a master at making the Tea Party a useful tool to blame his own rwing proclivities on.

He had a lot of experience in KY playing of the extreme rednecks against the middle.

Oh, that's easy. After that, you have a nation of families starving, desperately trying to take care of their elderly, and terrified of being out of a job and no healthcare. That means they're putting even less money into the economy, and jobs are drying up everywhere.

That's when Repubs get to run on more tax cuts and deregulation for billionaires and corporations. You know, so they can create more jobs (overseas).

Republican leaders will be aghast one day when they see their small government philosophy actually come true.
Europe calls it a "Greek haircut".

... and the voters are going to slam the dems who are for obamacare.

Not likely, MSGT. Of course, people like you will make hay out of a few who gripe because they didn't get something for nothing but what we're seeing out there now are millions who are finally having a 'thank you Obama' moment of relief because of ACA.

I don't know why you're not happy for them. You may complain about the cost of it all but as long as America's money is going back into helping Americans, the returns will eventually take care of themselves. It may take years to get this massive program tweaked into full productivity but the road ahead looks a lot brighter now than it did before Obamacare.
