A study of the bureaucratic machinations of J. Edgar Hoover should be an edifying experience for those who find current developments quite as shocking as gambling at Rick's Café Américain.

Because information is power. It was inevitable.

The question is now that we know what are we going to do about it?

This can't be true. The whitehouse.gov page says,

Government should be transparent. Transparency promotes accountability and provides information for citizens about what their Government is doing. Information maintained by the Federal Government is a national asset. My Administration will take appropriate action, consistent with law and policy, to disclose information rapidly in forms that the public can readily find and use. Executive departments and agencies should harness new technologies to put information about their operations and decisions online and readily available to the public. Executive departments and agencies should also solicit public feedback to identify information of greatest use to the public.

Or perhaps the zero, with his secrecy, is actually saying his against accountability. That he wants to keep our National Assets guarded? That he is against easy disclosure? That he is against using technology to put information on line and readily available to the public?

I direct the Chief Technology Officer, in coordination with the Director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) and the Administrator of General Services, to coordinate the development by appropriate executive departments and agencies, within 120 days, of recommendations for an Open Government Directive, to be issued by the Director of OMB, that instructs executive departments and agencies to take specific actions implementing the principles set forth in this memorandum. The independent agencies should comply with the Open Government Directive.

BARACK OBAMA

Geez, what happened, Barry? I think that 120 days is up.

We also know that under Shrub, mass surveillance began before 9-11, thanks to an AT&T whistle blower in San Francisco. It was originally focused on collecting blackmail material on Wussies.

Do you expect Obama to just sign a executive order? I mean it's not like he's got a phone and a pen. Or that he delayed major parts of ACA. If he had so much power he would have legalized a bunch of illegal immigrants.

Yawn.
Obama owns it now. That goes without saying.
However, since we are now seeing exactly what the civil liberty experts predicted, (you know, the ones ------- like you called "traitors", "In bed with the enemy" and "bush haters" back in 2004) and it seems to be a favorite whine by you today, perhaps a rehash of exactly "who" lied when and where is in order.
The experts predicted, (in 2004) that subsequent presidents would be hesitant to relinquish --- that has come true.
The experts predicted these programs, (created by Cheney, Addington, Bush and Gonzales) would result in mass unchecked surveillance of Americans---- which has come true.
All while Bush said it wasn't happening
So if a real analysis is what you really want, then you have to start at the begging ---- and that starts with its authors. Obamalamer is simply utilizing powers given to him by the previous administration (what the experts warned would occur).
Perhaps an apology on your part is necessary now for assaulting people who were warning you of what you wanted then, but now rail against

If Nixon had a surveillance apparatus at the level the NSA is today he never would've had to resign. The NSA is a Nixonian dream come true.

It isn't me who leaves them out it's the partisan leftists that do.
They didn't vote for Bush's first two terms but they voted for Bush's 3rd and 4th term. They bashed Bush for 8 years but now that the president wears the jackass moniker everything is peachy.

Let's arrest and prosecute them all ----- in chronological order or appearance.
This notion that investigating the persons who inherited this garbage prior to the persons who created it is asinine and nonsensical.

With that said, when is the house going to form a special committee to investigate, then repeal?

Ever notice how it seems now that the Cons are the first one to bring up Bush when the sad state of our country is mentioned?

Bush and Cheney needed impeached. Pelosi took it off the table. That cozy crony relationship where Congress protects a Constitutional thieving POTUS from investigation, should tell us all we need to know about our corrupt two Party government.

Had Bush been impeached Obama would have been a different President.

Cry baby cry!
The fact is that Obama is much worse than Bush since he was against Bush in the campaigns before he was for Bush. You ignorant fools are so smitten with Obama-lies you can't admit that you were complete suckers to vote for him.

Bush came across as more clueless than anything else last night. I wonder how he would have managed had Dick Cheney not selected himself to be De Facto President. I expect he would still be sitting in that classroom, trying to finish "The Pet Goat".
