Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

A new Anti-Defamation League global survey of 53,100 adults in 102 countries finds that Greece is the most anti-Semitic country in Western Europe, with 69 percent of adults surveyed expressing such opinions and Sweden, with four percent, the least. In the United States, nine percent of adults were found to harbor anti-Semitic views. One finding: Among the 74 percent of those surveyed who said that they had never met a Jewish person, 25 percent nonetheless harbored anti-Semitic attitudes.

Is 9% suppposed to be high? I would bet that at least 9% of American jews have a negative opinion of at least one other ethnic or religious group. I would bet you could take any ethnic/relgious group and do a survey and at least 9% of America will have something bad to say about them.

I was going to say, "Only 9%?" So yeah, what Sully said: That hardly seems a high number. Hell, 9% of Americans probably don't like ME.

Most of it stems from a controversy on the Jewish view on when life begins. In Jewish tradition, a fetus is not considered viable until after it graduates medical school.

91% of people are not anti-Semitic. The rest haven't met a Jewish person.

Ugh these people again. They don't speak for many Jews in Israel, and most around the world.

This trope is an attempt to conflagrate Jews with the banksters which most people do in fact hate. A form of aggressive fascist propaganda.

Let's see. How many jews have anti-goyim sentiments? Are they even asked?

You're the only one here linking Jews to banksters.

Well, that's in really bad taste.... oh, did you mean "conflate"?

#9 | Posted by Corky at 2014-05-14 11:58 AM | Reply | Flag:

That is not the point. The purpose of these statements is in fact to typecast Jews; many of whom don't care about Israel at all, and of those don't agree with much what it does.

To understand why many in Israel proper do agree with many of the statements, you only have to understand the 24/7 propaganda over there that treats non Jews similarly to the ways Blacks/Asians circa early 1900s in the USA were routinely maligned.

% jews that hate anyone not jewish?

what about blacks who hate mexicans?

mexicans that hate indians?

zulus that hate wasps?

muslims hating buddhists?

etc. etc. etc.

what a horrible job to have to compile this horse manure of data and being the guy outside of the grocery store taking the survey....

what is your job title? uh, trivial pursuit data expert.

Married into a Jewish family. Meanest nasties people I have ever met.
I did not equate this to the Jewish people in general, but to the specific people with bad behavior.

How was the question phrased? Was it like this...

Have you ever met a Jew? .... Did you like him? No? Then you are anti-semetic. Next.

How have 74% of Americans never met a Jewish person? Dare to set foot outside the county you were born in, yokels.

What a ridiculous survey. I wonder what percentage of people hold anti-broccoli views?

My friends be advised - the ADL is a political organization dedicated to politics, and not really concerned with facts.

As far as I know I've never met a Jewish person overseas. I'm not a world traveller by any means but I've been to at least 10 foreign countries.

I happen to know plenty of Jewish people because I live in an area where there are plenty of Jewish people.

Most likely a good % of those people have met a Jewish person and just didn't know. They file their horns now.

How was the question phrased?

The questions are right here:

global100.adl.org

"Now, I'd like to ask you your impressions of the following groups of people. For each one, please tell me whether you have a favorable or unfavorable opinion of them. If you don't recognize them, just say so."

They asked that question about Jews, Christians, Buddhists, Muslims and Hindus, in random order.

Next, they asked a series of specific questions about whether specific ideas about Jews were "probably true" or "probably false."

Instead of attacking the messenger, perhaps you should recognize that 9% is one of the lowest percentages of the countries surveyed.

Thanks Rcade. Reading is fundamental.

But I thought this site was all about attacking messengers.

I meant "you" as in everybody, by the way. Now I must go attack some messengers in another discussion.

Oh I see the 74% that has never met a Jew is a global figure, not the US.

Continue never setting foot outside the county you were born in, rubes.

"There were 2 jews in my first insurance training class from about 15 years ago."

They were both eventually fired for lying to clients, underwriters, everyone really within 2 years. t took a while to fire them because they were selling a lot. Eventually the company was being sued for various lies these guys told.

I'm sure they consider saying that israel is committing atrocities to be an "anti-Semitic view", but it's not. Even many american jews think the israeli right wing is insane.

Thinking our presidential candidates SHOULDN"T have to get AIPAC's approval is not an anti Semitic view either. It's patriotism.

Name the last president that didn't have the approval of the us department of war pigs and the federal reserve. That is where aipacs money comes from without which Israel wouldn't be able to feed its own people, let along pay off congress. Use your brain. Think.

When they say "antisemitic" with surveys like this I'm always curious about the intent of the surveyors.

I'm deeply respectful of Jewish tradition and heritage, appalled at tragedies like the Holocaust, and am quite friendly with a number of Jewish people.

On the other hand, I abhor Zionism, and find our relationship with the Israeli state deeply troubling. I wonder if that would make me "antisemitic" in the eyes of those behind this survey.

Yes. In their eyes it clearly would.

And I agree, except for those Jews who drink the blood of Christian babies, of course.

Only 9% admitted it. As a colony of Israel, the USA is not a wise place to publicize your anti-semitic views. Of course modern anti-semitism is very broad and encompasses many seemingly, to the normally functioning brain, benign stances. For example:

Any detectable lack of support for Israeli settlements (existing or planned) in Palestinian, occupied territories automatically implies:
-- You deny Israel's "right to exist"
-- You were in favor of The Holocaust
-- You support Islamic Jihad

Any statement that Israeli actions in the Palestinian-populated areas amounts to apartheid automatically implies:
-- You deny Israel's "right to exist"
-- You were in favor of The Holocaust
-- You support Islamic Jihad

Any statement that Israel has been making a complete fool of the USA for decades with bait & switch "peace agreements" automatically implies:

yeah, you know the drill...

P.S. When he released his book Palestine: Peace Not Apartheid, Jimmy Carter spoke of all the above infractions and was accused of anti-semitism by ADL, AIPAC, etc. Did not stick well though due to his former POTUS and Nobel Prize resume. No such luck for Average Joe though!

Does anyone really care what the USA seconders think? I sometimes go to their web site to check out their latest anti-conspiracy by deception theories. They oddly came up with the anti-semite tie to those who believe in 9-11 truth long before I thought about it, and it was shortly after Netanyahu explained just how good 9-11 was for Israel.

They seem to have advance knowledge on all the latest theories too. Jimmy Carter's Apartheid book and the Israel Lobby expose changed my beliefs on how we the indebted impoverished Americans have really been screwed over by an overrepresented minority that protects its own before America.

Now we have our POTUS's being chosen by Israel firsters, and their media doesn't even attempt to mask it. Putting our USA first is not racist, but instead anti our enemy.
