Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

A group of armed open carry demonstrators on Thursday night sent the employees of a nearby Jack in the Box restaurant in Fort Worth hiding in the freezer because they feared a robbery. Their emergency calls brought multiple police cars. "The demonstration had no signage that would have alerted anyone to their real purpose, and to our knowledge they did not attempt to contact anyone in the Fort Worth Police Department to advise us prior to the demonstration," said police Sgt. Ray Bush.

Imagine if the employees were also big fans of open carry and 'stand your ground'.

One of these days these type of idiots are going to get themselves killed "protesting".

Not much of a chance of that. JiB workers and patrons are most likely Democrats. It's probably why they chose JiB and not a nice steak house.

It really is only a matter of time.

Do you honestly believe anyone chooses Jack-In-The-Box over a better restaurant?

I meant the employees.

Perhaps they are pushing the envelope of acceptability just as does every other interest group. Open carrying seems uncommon only because it is so rare in urban areas. But they do have that right just as others have their rights.

Do open carry firearms demonstrators really need to carry to make their point?
I've been to a few abortion rights rallies; never seen an abortion performed at one.

The day is coming, albeit slowly, that displaying/exhibiting your weapon in public shall be equated with brandishing and prohibited.

Absolutely, it will be interesting to see if the Feds infiltrate them and incite them to violence like they do with other groups.

That's pretty friggin' stupid, ever for the goat.

That type of idiocy is usually only expected of the babbler and his ilk.

When I see a gun-nut with a holstered weapon, I get as far away from them as possible. The real problem is the folks who hide-conceal their guns. They should have to wear a sign warning normal-sane folks that they are armed and ready to kill-murder, or shot us "accidently"

(95%+ Of folks, including most gun owners do not open carry or hide-conceal carry)

So they wore guns in holsters on their sides. Don't these employees know robbers don't holster their guns.

I sort of doubt it, but do give it a try for your own sake.

#12 | Posted by snoofy

At an event for that purpose, why not?

So they wore guns in holsters on their sides.

That's not what I read. They had "assault weapons" strapped across their back.

Don't these employees know robbers don't holster their guns.
#22 | Posted by mcmlcxx

Get real, the idiots carried rifles. WTF display weapons like that at a fast food joint in an urban area just because you can? Seems the planned demonstration across the street went fine.

Add another restaurant I will not be visiting any time soon. What the hell is wrong with these people!?! My mother used to let me wear a cowboy hat and toy guns to go downtown, but it was 1954, fer crissakes!

I love how these grown babies who can't leave their toys at home say they're going to help the police. Cops rarely fire their weapons but they want "help" from a bunch of Baby Hueys who dream of a chance to play cops and robbers in public with real bullets. Yeah, sure.

Whose more retarded, these gun nuts or the posters defending them? One day, this is going to end bad, real bad, either by law enforcement or some scared armed individual.

A young cowboy named Billy Joe grew restless on the farm
A boy filled with wonderlust who really meant no harm
He changed his clothes and shined his boots
And combed his dark hair down
And his mother cried as he walked out

Don't take your guns to town, son
Leave your guns at home, Bill
Don't take your guns to town

Brings up an interesting cultural point, especially for those of us old enough to recall the 1950's.....

We spent a lot of time during that era congratulating ourselves that we'd gotten away from the sort of scene these 2nd Amendment gunslingers staged at Taco Bell.
