Media Matters: There's only one radio station in America that takes its name from Rush Limbaugh's radio empire and that's KEIB in Los Angeles -- the EIB mirrors Limbaugh's "Excellence in Broadcasting" motto. Clear Channel, which syndicates Limbaugh's program nationally, owns the station and flipped the call letters to KEIB in honor of him when the company announced he was leaving his longtime Los Angeles radio home, KFI, and moving to KEIB in January. There, according to Clear Channel, he would anchor a new, all-conservative lineup of Republican-friendly talkers, including Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity. Three months later, Limbaugh's KEIB is a ratings disaster, coming in 37th place in the second largest radio market in America with a .5 rating share in March, the most recent month available, according to Nielsen ratings.

How small is KEIB's audience? So small that eleven non-English radio stations have larger audiences in Los Angeles. And so small that KEIB actually trails four college-run, non-commercial stations in the market.

The big-city woes aren't confined to the West Coast. In New York, the nation's largest radio market and where Rush once reigned supreme, the talker recently exited his longtime AM home, WABC, and moved to Clear Channel's WOR. With Limbaugh as the main draw, the station now ranks 22nd in the market and trails four non-English stations as well as a commercial-free classical music outlet.

I know in NYC the listeners are grouching he is always taken off by Mets games.
I don't know which is more harmful to America, neocons or the Mets.

Funny thing is Limpcrack's ratings now are lower than when the same station was AirAmerica. That's gotta sting.

Often times angry old white men suffer from high blood pressure and heart attacks, could be Rush's demographic is moving from their homes to cemeteries.

Interesting how the left is all of a sudden concerned about ratings?

MSNBC is in serious trouble
according to Nielsen data featured in a new Pew Research report. Prime-time viewership declined by a staggering 24 percent (nearly twice the loss sustained by CNN and four-times that sustained by Fox News). Daytime viewership fell by 15 percent, even as it rose at both of the other networks.

On the revenue side, MSNBC was projected to decline by 2 percent, while both CNN and Fox News were projected to experience growth of 2 percent and 5 percent, respectively. MSNBC was expected to bring in $475 million in revenue: less than half what CNN will make and roughly one-quarter of what Fox News will make.

I can't understand how any conservative would let an obese, drug-addicted, illegal-immigrant hiring, draft-dodging blow-hard tell them what it means to be a conservative.

I mean, the guy doesn't even support conservation. Every farmer I ever met, every hunter as well, was an environmentalist.

I'll bet Rush doesn't even own a gun.

Posted by someone constantly preaching against racism, sexism and, as her years advance, I'd assume ageism.

I find it most interesting that ratings are actually important to so many people besides the media corporations and advertisers. Aside from those corporations who can use the ratings to determine ad prices, and the other corporations who want their ads heard by the most people for the best value, why does anyone else care about ratings?

Why does it make any difference to you whether MSNBC is in trouble or not?

Media Matters should be renamed "Media Matters Doesn't Matter". The organization itself is totally bigoted, skewed, partisan and as a result illegitimate to promote itself as anything more than a Rush Limbaugh from the left.

MM is neither credible nor a defender of anything other than standard fare leftist media views that it is the Christian culture that is evil and greedy, and the media itself needs to be consolidated, monopolized and kept in tribal hands offering only their bigoted Bolshevik Harvard point of view to the USA Goy.

In other news, ice cream is more popular than broccoli. That doesn't mean it isn't killing you.

The drug-addicted. Draft-Dodging, Chicken-Hawk Rush Limbaugh is my favorite comic, by far. This is just a minor ratings slump, as the 50 somethings turn 60 and retire his audience will come back IMHO

That article doesn't list a talk show host with a bigger audience. How can you a failure when your number one?

PHESTER ~ You use the word "fear" as a buzzword to boister your case. "Disgust" over such blatant displays of stupidity would be a more apt description.

The only time "fear" is applicable is what you feel as Hillary gets closer and closer to the White House. In fact, I'd even expand on that and call it "paralyzing fear."

The only thing Rush's wealth proves is that billionaires will reward you handsomely if you trick masses into morons into hating liberals intead of the billionaires who are ruining the country.

In other words, crime pays.

Shortly after Bill Clinton took office, the undisputed leader of the American conservative movement and the de facto leader of the GOP Rush Limbaugh had a syndicated TV show. Rush asked his audience, "did you know there's a White House dog?" For his punch line, Rush showed a photo of a 12-year-old Chelsea Clinton.

It takes a special breed of jerk to go after an under-age child . To expose her to ridicule for her looks, at what is easily the most awkward stage of adolescence, is completely indefensible. But the Right-Wing-Nuts proudly defended Saint Limbaugh's vile comments

I didn't say Rush was a financial failure. I said he was a college dropout. The fat, impotent, drug-addled, draft-dodging, thrice-divorced, college dropout, chickenhawk has made a lot of money calling people names. So, I figure he's got it coming .... the ----!

Rush avoided service in Vietnam because of a boo-boo on his big butt. And yet, he's often an enthusiastic supporter of military invention. I think that is a pretty good definition of a chickenhawk.
