Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

Nate Cohn, New York Times: The Democratic midterm turnout problem is no secret. Young and nonwhite voters tend to stay home in off-year elections, leaving the electorate older, whiter and more Republican than in a presidential election. If there's any consolation for Democrats, it's that they will have an opportunity to do something about it. They'll spend millions to target Democratic-leaning voters over the next six months. And you would think that if anything could fix a turnout problem, it would be the vestiges of President Obama's vaunted ground operation. But not even the most sophisticated and well-funded turnout effort can fix this problem. Strong turnout operations can help Democrats at the margins. The Democratic turnout problem, however, is not marginal.

I believe a lot of the young naive voters that typically go for the dems in the best of cases don't vote in off year elections. The dems and Obummer are in trouble on all fronts. There won't be the enthusiasm in this off year election which will be even more problematic---a lot of it has to do with the "bloom off the rose" and the perception I was made an idiot to vote for a novice.

Those most fired up about something show up to vote.
Right now, I would guess that is bad for Dems because they have worn out their welcome, much as Republicans did by 2008.

I remember how minorities, women, and youth voters were not going to show up in 2012 either.

Id does not look good for the Dems especially if the GOP can keep a muzzle on the crazies in the clown car (like the legitimate rape guys)

The last year the House actually did anything? The year the GOPpers took over the Senate?
