Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

Seattle police arrested nine people during an unpermitted May Day march that involved a scuffle between an anarchist and a man dressed as a superhero, wardrobe changes by the anti-capitalist marchers and no major property damage. The fight between the anarchist and the man in costume broke out near Fifth and Pike when the anarchist sprayed silly string at the man, who responded with a punch to the face. The incident lasted only a few minutes before police intervened, and the march resumed with protesters chanting "f--- the police!" and setting off fireworks.

#5 If the SEIU is going to continue to act like card carrying members of the communist party, yep. It's not like I put that list together myself..it boils down to the May Day Parade being a collection of unions, leftists, social justice groups and La Raza. That's a mob just waiting to be incited to violence...and they played true to form.

And of course they only fought other leftists.

#8 I think they fought cops and windows. The cops won, the windows lost.

As only a leftist "anarchist" would, or are these "progressives"? They keep so much distance between the same ideas one can't tell anymore.

I have been to plenty of protests marches in Seattle and in the past and when violence happens in during a protests march it is almost always started by the Seattle cops being complete SOBs then the black dressed Anarchist who are looking for a excuse to be violent reacts to the police violence start to smash windows, it is almost like the police and the black clad anarchists are working hand in hand to turn what normally would be a peaceful protests into a violent one.
anyone who knows a thing about Seattle cops know they are racist and violent, they are so racist and violent that the feds had to get involved reign them in a little.
unfortunately all the feeble attempt at reform are now being undone by the new mayor who took a lot of money from the police union

The vast majority who go to the protests or demonstrations in Seattle want them to be peaceful, it is the police and the Black Clad Anarchists who wants the violence.

Every single time you hear of violent parades and marches in the United States, you can bet all the marchers vote left.

That's a bet you're likely to lose. Nazis and white supremacists have marched in the U.S. too, and most violence associated with parades occurs over sporting events.

Violence at events like this generally is about hooligans exploiting the opportunity to be hooligans. Some come from the left, some from the right and most from no political position at all.

We're fortunate in the U.S. that this junk is pretty rare.

"the anarchist sprayed silly string at the man, who responded with a punch to the face."

LOL

I admit I find it funny.

If you've got no actual proof, just smear your enemy with innuendo. I'm sure Mustank is a big fan of innuendo. If you know what I mean.

What is May Day har?

"International Workers' Day, also known as Labor Day or May Day, is a celebration of laborers and the working classes that is promoted by the international labor movement and occurs every year on May 1.[1][2]

May 1 was chosen as the date for International Workers' Day by the Socialists and Communists of the Second International to commemorate the Haymarket affair in Chicago that occurred on May 4, 1886.[3] Some countries celebrate a Labor Day on other dates significant to them, such as the United States which celebrates Labor Day on the first Monday of September.

In many countries a traditional European spring celebration and public holiday, May Day, also occurs on or around May 1. Therefore, while May 1 is a national public holiday in many countries, in only some of those countries is it celebrated specifically as "Labor Day" or "International Workers' Day"

Just sayin.

Only happens after your favorite either wins or looses a very important game. They riot when they win and they riot when they loose.

Maybe, but there is another side to that coin. We need a society that becomes more engaged in politics and if it takes demonstrating peacefully it would be a good thing, because it would get Washington's corrupt ear turned from the lobbyists to the people in the street.

Surely we have learned by now too that these groups are regularly infiltrated by shills either placed there by cops or others who wish to make trouble to turn public opinion, and create an excuse to use the clubs. The establishment hates demonstrators.

Every single time you hear of violent parades and marches in the United States, you can bet all the marchers vote left. I've got a crisp $5 bill that says more than one May Day marcher was wearing a pro-union shirt.

Private sector unions were fundamental to the creation of a USA that was once the economic envy of the world. They provided a political balance of power that is missing today. Beyond that I fail to understand those who believe average Americans should be forced to work for almost nothing as serfs, while a special few arrogant bankers and CEOs get paid exorbitant sums for failure, and iron clad employment contracts.

Greedy bankers and CEOs conniving with politicians to dismantle unions through unfair one way trade policies and other back room globalist deals are what has destroyed us. They were as Marcus Tullius Cicero described as "Inside the wall traitors" and should have been treated as such, and instead they became blood sucking oligarchs plundering the carcass of an indebted impoverished America.
