Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Tuesday, February 25, 2014

Alec Baldwin has written an essay for New York magazine declaring that he's leaving public life and New York City. He will no longer discuss his personal life with American media, he declares. "Am I a homophobe? Look, I work in show business," Baldwin writes. "I am awash in gay people, as colleagues and as friends. I'm doing Rock of Ages one day, making out with Russell Brand. Soon after that, I'm advocating with Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Cynthia Nixon for marriage equality. I'm officiating at a gay friend

Maybe the ultimate "I feel sorry for me, you should too" piece. He does nail this point though:

"Even the U.S., which is so preposterously judgmental now. The heart, the arteries of the country are now clogged with hate. The fuel of American political life is hatred. Who would ever dream that Obama would deserve to be treated the way he has been? The birth-certificate --------, which is just Obama's version of Swiftboating. And all for the electoral nullification that seems like a cancer on the American system. But this is Roger Ailes. And Fox. And Breitbart. And this is all about hate. It's Hate Incorporated. But the liberals have taken the bait and run in the same direction -- and it's just as corrosive. MSNBC, in its own way, is as full of ----, as redundant and as superfluous, as Fox.

I think America's more ------ up now than it's ever been. People are angry that in the game of musical chairs that is the U.S. economy, there are less seats at the table when the music stops. And at every recession, the music is stopping."

I read the first part of his rant until he began meandering all over the place.

WAY too long for me to waste my time on. I don't care enough about Alec Baldwin positively or negatively to bother.

Mark my words we are not done seeing Alex Baldwin till we read the story that says that he was put down by a halo of police fire after he finally loses it and attacks somebody.

"WAY too long for me to waste my time on"

HAR~HAR~
But not so much a "waste of time" to prevent you from whining anonymously on the internets about it, apparently.

don't care what he thinks of his tolerance index, he is homophobic; and so are Tina Fey & Tracy Morgan, his co~stars in the hit sit~com i never saw. His chronic illness is his uncontrollable rage; his lack of personal insight is that he ill~treated conservatives in the very same way he (now) lambasts the Left for treating him. If he doesn't get the psychiatric help he so desperately needs, he will soon be damaging his marriage & new offspring. Hard to feel sorry for him; this train wreck has been unfolding too long.

Unfortunately, headline fail.

It's his LATEST rant, not his LAST.

Again, unfortunately.

Tina Fey is homophobic? That's an accusation I've never heard before.

But Alec Baldwin is an idiot, for sure. His Jack Donaghy character is well-done, but the man himself? Fool. Of course, he won't leave the celebrity life behind, just as he won't leave the United States.

Nope. He had some unkind things to say about her heroes at MSNBC. He's now a heretic.

Not likely.

AHA AHA HA nice....especially for you...lol

but I hate to tell you that I don't hate this guy. I have no opinion because I don't watch anything he's in which could be construed as an opinion anyway but I don't get upset. I just read it and know there's one more case of a lib getting away with racial and gay abuse and name calling and he's gotten away with it repeatedly and those are FACTS not even you would deny.

I have two things to say about his rant:

1. The function of the political system is to create the illusion of choice(partisan system).

2. There are NO real liberals in power nor fascist media; not one.

#8 ~ i got that impression, very strongly, from a favorite joke of her father, which she told while hosting Weekend Update on SNL. i do not remember the joke now, but it was kinda funny and derogatory of gays (punchline maybe used a euphemism for ---- sex) and she appeared quite pleased with herself for repeating it. i did not watch 30Rock, but had the show had any anti~gay slant i'm sure we'd have heard about it. MAYBE Ms Fey repeating the joke was a slam of her dad's bigotry; i just thought of that.

That's really one thing -- your thing. Color me impressed that you found a way to say it yet again, in an Alec Baldwin thread no less.

"he is homophobic; and so are Tina Fey & Tracy Morgan"
"i got that impression, very strongly"

Kenx, running around labeling people does nothing whatsoever.
Baldwin saying "------" doesn't automatically make him homophobic.
Fey using a euphemism for ---- sex in a joke doesn't make her homophobic, even if the joke was about gay men.
It's one thing to disapprove of what someone says. It's another to point the finger and label someone, and extrapolate a host of other things about them.
Of all of Baldwin's faults (and they are legion), I doubt homophobia is one of them.

Oftentimes, I can see how someone could be offended by something, I just don't see why they would be...except for their own sake.
Getting an "impression, very strongly", indicates it just might be more about the offended than the offender.

"had the show had any anti~gay slant i'm sure we'd have heard about it."

Even if it didn't, you may still have heard about it. For example, I just heard that Tina Fey is homophobic. Doesn't make it true.
Some people like to find things to get upset over; it gives them a sense of empowerment.
Pick a random comment from a random thread from right here on the Retort, and you're likely to find an example of this.

Fact is, there is actual homophobia out there, actual racism, actual sexism, actual anti-Catholicism, actual anti-Semitism, etc.
Trouble is, too many people try to define themselves by what offends them, and feel an emotional need to be offended because they have a perception that that is what's expected of them, that they aren't being "true to the cause" if they're not offended, if they don't feel oppressed, etc.

There is also anti-Amish and anti-New yawk City and anti-Kalipornia and anti-hunter and anti-gun and anti-football and anti-iceskating and anti-farmers and anti-union and anti-life etc etc..
Jayzuz if you accusers would ever admit it -- you are all anti-Republican and anti-American Flag and anti-Partiots etc etc... If someone doesn't like the homorationing - wat the hells the difference?
Don't try to force the rest of us to love your abased life style and we won't make fun of yours or your hair-do-- or your reluctance to shave -- or your hate of tobacco or your hate of sweet potatoes.
