Iranian warships dispatched to the Atlantic Ocean will travel close to U.S. maritime borders for the first time, a senior Iranian naval commander said Saturday. The commander of Iran's Northern Navy Fleet, Admiral Afshin Rezayee Haddad, said the vessels have already entered the Atlantic Ocean via waters near South Africa, the official IRNA news agency reported. The fleet, consisting of a destroyer and a helicopter-carrying supply ship, began its voyage last month from the southern Iranian port city of Bandar Abbas. The ships, carrying some 30 navy academy cadets for training along with their regular crews, are on a three-month mission. The voyage comes amid an ongoing push by Iran to demonstrate its ability to project power across the Middle East and beyond.

In related news Iran can expect for six warships to "vanish" and the crews to take a trip to GITMO.

We should welcome them to dock at American ports and receive American hospitality. The Iranian leaders would never allow their sailors shore leave, too many would desert. Speaking unoffically for Ft. Lauderdale and Port Everglades I hereby extend the invitation.

Don't the Iranians understand, only the USA and Israel have the right to defend themselves? There is only one God and he is on our side. We can invade any country, blow up anybody and anything, if it suits us. No one else is entitled to act in their own self interests. However, if you're big enough, like China and Russia, we won't push the point.

"Would be so funny if they ran out of gas."

Not very likely. Their so-called "Helicopter Carrier" is actually an oiler.

Good possibility they will have major breakdowns though... long way to sail in old boats.

Wanna really screw with them? Invite them to port in Key West for a few days. I highly doubt it would be approved by Iranian military leadership. The crews might just decide they like the Keys a little more than they do Tehran.

Sorry about the redundancy. It would appear Danni came up with the idea first. Although I'll stick to my postion on the Keys over Ft. Lauderdale.

Yep they have been testing the EMP weapons and they work just fine. All they have to do is get close to the us and launch them into the air and explode them and America shuts down.

The west has mistaken the missiles that blow up in the air as a failure however they are designed to do that.

These ships should not be allowed near the US without inspection however Obama is to weak to do anything about it.

#16 | Posted by tmaster at 2014-02-11 11:23 AM | Reply | Flag:

Its clear that no one here understands what the Iranians have been working on or why they want these ships which are really missile launchers near the US..

The EMP bomb is real and Iran will use it. They don't even have to fire the missile at the US they just have to launch it high into the air near the US and have it explode.

They don't even have to be in US waters to make it work.

#17 | Posted by tmaster at 2014-02-11 11:27 AM | Reply | Flag:

We have our own EMP weapon. A few of them actually. Most notably the LGM-30 Minuteman III, and the UGM-133 Trident II. Both are superior to anything the Iranians could field.

It's being drowned out by the "Let's welcome the Iranian missiles and invaders- we deserve it".

I bet we ---- with them if they ever make it.

I fail to see any reason why I should care that they're attempting this voyage for at least the third time in 5 years though...

#17 Likelihood low, consequence medium. Weigh that against the repercussion: Likelihood high, consequence high. I don't know if the Iranians are familiar with Operational Risk Management, but if they are, they've already decided that launching a nuclear weapon is a BAD idea.

Then they'll want more arms and bribes once they see the picture of Reagan in the WH. Maybe even they'll ask for another 300 unarmed Marines to blow up, in Reagan's honor, of course.

6 hours max, $39.99 tops, we'll be greeted as liberators and they'll pay for our bullets.

Just like our stunning victory in Iraq.

Republicans who voted for Bush.

Sounds like some conservatives need to restock all their duct tape and plastic sheeting. Just a hint- get the aluminum duct tape, not the cloth type. It holds better and deflects brain stealing shariaized EMP blasts. Sort of like a body suit to match your tin foil hats.

Well, just remember that as president he can do, "...anything I want." However the Iranians don't worry about those "red line" limits as they know how easily Divus Barackus Miraculus moves them around, extends deadlines and generally waffles on most everything.

"Iran warns ready for 'decisive' battle with US, Israel:"

"US Secretary of State John Kerry said late last month that if diplomacy with Iran fails, "the military option of the United States is ready and prepared to do what it would have to do".

But Firouzabadi accused the US of bluffing.

"Over the past decade, they brought their forces but came to the conclusion that they can't attack us and left," he said, dismissing the US military threat as nothing but a "political bluff".

It may sound crazy, but years ago (1996 probably) I was on an aircraft carrier in the Persian Gulf. One day, we had an Iranian P-3 do a flyover. I remember because the silly thing was painted purple. Apparently, the Commander of the Task force allowed it to happen, as it was announced over the ship's intercom, also known as the 1MC. That, and there were about 70 different ways that the commander could have shot the aircraft out of the sky if he hadn't wanted it to fly over.

#36 | Posted by madbomber at 2014-02-12 10:20 AM | Reply | Flag:

#36 Just like the carrier could operate there because it's international waters, the Iranian P-3 could operate there in international airspace. You can bet that if/when the Iranian FF and it's replenishment ship get close enough to be interesting, they will receive a visit from a P-3 or P-8. They'll also be visited by some other assets, but won't ever know it.
