Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton supports President Barack Obama's opposition to imposing new sanctions on Iran as negotiations continue on the country's nuclear program. Clinton detailed her position in a letter to Sen. Carl Levin (D-Mich.) sent in response to a request by Levin for her stance on the issue. "The U.S. intelligence community has assessed that imposing new unilateral sanctions now 'would undermine the prospects for a successful comprehensive nuclear agreement with Iran.' I share that view. It could rob us of the diplomatic high ground we worked so hard to reach, break the united international front we constructed, and in the long run, weaken pressure on Iran by opening the door for other countries to chart a different course," Clinton wrote.

She continued, "So long as Iran remains a sponsor of terrorism and a threat to global security, we will have to remain vigilant in defense of our allies and partners, including Israel. Yet I have no doubt that this is the time to give our diplomacy the space to work."

Clinton also warned that the passage of additional sanctions by Congress could project an image of internal discord.

"We should give anyone watching from Tehran no reason to doubt America's unity and resolve," she wrote.

corky, in your udder awe of all things hillary (yes, the cow pun is apt), you cannot help but take her words and actions (and those of israel) at face value.

you are so naive.

Considering that she and the Israeli government disagree in this case, your own naivete is showing.

Others just tear up and suck their.... thumbs.

corky, you have proven time and time again to many posters that when it call comes down to it, you, like some perverted likeness of a francesco del brina painting, curl up like a holier-than-thou newborn and breastfeed at the saggy breast-shaped altar of hillary.

I don't think describing your mom is gong to help you here.

She didn't equate Clinton's position with Israel's.

Levin doesn't equal "The Senate". It only means he can't think for himself.

here's a photo of hillary disagreeing with israel:

www.washingtonpost.com

in the little note she tucks in the wailing wall it says: "dear israel: i a not a slave to your bidding and i disagree with you, really i do.

of course, i am taking the words of that note at face value...

Short of actual military action, is there a "diplomatic high ground" to take with Iran?

IOW, is there any realistic hope of getting Iran to agree to something meaningful if we resist these proposed sanctions?

You claimed "The Senate" asked for her opinion. I said Levin did. You muttered something about O'Reilly. Now we're doing the Hokey Pokey. That's what it's all about.

I did. She tells Levin he can share her response, so your claim that the Senate asked gives you a "pants on fire" finding.
