Former American Idol contestant Clay Aiken is considering a run for Congress in North Carolina against Rep. Renee Ellmers, a Tea Party Republican first elected in 2010. The Christian Science Monitor reports, "The 35-year-old Aiken is gay and has a son who was born through in-vitro fertilization. While that might be a negative in such a conservative district, [a consultant] said he believed most voters who wouldn't support a gay candidate probably wouldn't support a Democratic one either."

Two chances, slim and none. He does not fit this district as it is very conservative, church going voters, he would stand a much better chance if he moved to Asheville where all the old 60's burnouts live.

If he runs I would be surprised to see him pull more than 40% of the vote, but the democrats have to run somebody. Ellmers has run afoul of the more conservative voters but no way will they vote for a liberal democrat. Being in the congressional district next to Ellmeer's I have seen and read much about the demographics which is what leads me to believe he cannot win there.

Celebrity and name recognition is the ultimate goal of advertisers, media and those who hire and support them.

Unfortunately for society, making celebrity, media, and recognition as important political characteristics, will generally screw the most while enriching the least. Putting the MSM in charge of our political candidates is anathema to destroying the USA.

He has zero experience in government, he would be nothing more than a democrat lackey. Look at the joke Jesse Ventura, Al Franken, and other entertainers have made of themselves by getting elected to positions where they had no idea of what was required.

By other entertainers, you mean Reagan?
