Bonehead Biden: Giffords "Was Shot and Mortally Wounded"

Vice President Joe Biden incorrectly stated early today that Rep. Gabrielle Giffords had been "shot and mortally wounded". "Gabby Giffords, my good friend, was shot and mortally wounded," Biden claimed. Biden made the comment as he tried to gin up support for gun control.

Mortal wound:

A mortal wound is a very severe and serious injury (almost always a form of penetration or laceration) whether accidental or inflicted intentionally (by either suicide or homicide), which leads directly to the death of the victim. Death need not be instantaneous, but follows soon after. If proper medical treatment is provided immediately, the victim has a chance of survival, at which point the wound retroactively becomes non-mortal. However, even with prompt medical intervention, there is still a strong likelihood that the victim will not survive.

Biden puts his foot in his mouth sometimes, but he's one of the smartest and most experienced foreign policy experts in Washington and someone who understands the concerns of the working class in places like Scranton. One of the best moves Obama made was to put him on the ticket. Some Reagan Democrats were kept on Obama's side in 2008 and 2012 in Ohio and places like it because of Biden.

Integrity? Biden has no integrity. He had to quit his first bid for the presidency over charges of plagiarism. He received 5 deferments from Vietnam b/c he had asthma while he played football in college. Biden is a liar and has proven over and over that he will say absolutely anything no matter how made up it is. Remember "they want to put ya'll in chains". And just b/c he has experience doesn't mean he knows what he's talking about.

I agree. I am speaking of VP's in general and what I think their role is. I only voted for Obama because of Biden (and Palin).

Its not the GAFFE itself that is the problem...

Its the hyperbole of the gaffe, which just goes to show you how entrenched the hyperbole and rhetoric is when a politician speaks.... I just think Biden is honest....

Remember Biden talking about Indians and 7/11's..... this guy is classic, honest to a fault...
