Four days after shuttering the White House to the public to cut costs, President Obama says he's asking the U.S. Secret Service about the possibility of resuming tours for school groups, which have begun descending on the nation's capital for spring break.

"What I'm asking them is are there ways, for example, for us to accommodate school groups … who may have traveled here with some bake sales," Obama told ABC News' George Stephanopoulos in an interview on "Good Morning America." "Can we make sure that kids, potentially, can still come to tour?"

what ABC will NOT talk about is that the way he was going to do this is in direct opposition to what TOADY jay carney said at the time...BUT OF COURSE dutifully the little worm denied ANY BLAME TO THE WHITE HOUSE

Awww, he cares.
Whens the next golf vacation with Tiger and how much will that cost compared to White House tours?

EACH GOLF trip with energy and security costs could keep it open for three months....

Has there ever been a president who hedges and uses more non-committal words while he speaks than Obama?
"are there ways...for example...may have traveled...bake sales...potentially"

Then later, even if something as stupid as this doesn't work out, he can say "I only asked if there were ways! I only said "for example!" I only said "may" have traveled! I only said kids that were with bake sales! I only said potentially!"

I know the guy is a lawyer, but jesus [...] christ.

Give him a break Joe. He did tell the janitors they were going to have their pay cut. They were so nervous their supervisor had to send out a email telling them it was a lie. He just can't admit that he closed the WH tours as a way to hold his breath and stomp his feet in anger.

"Been" as you use it derives from the verb "to be," so it depends on what the definition of "is" is, Joe.

He has to clear this with the GOP and they do have to agree to increasing taxes on millionaires so we can let the kids see the whitehouse.

Hilarious.... Obama said the decision didn't come from the WH.....

Obama the President that is not in charge of anything......

GEORGE STEPHANOPOULOS:
–one more question about the spending cuts. You've been takin' a lotta heat for this cancellation of the White House tours. They get– the Secret Service says it's costs about $74,000 a week. Was canceling them really necessary?
PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA:
You know, I have to say this was not– a decision that went up to the White House. But th– what the Secret Service explained to us was that they're gonna have to furlough some folks. What furloughs mean is– is that people lose a day of work and a day of pay.
And, you know, the question for them is, you know, how deeply do they have to furlough their staff and is it worth it to make sure that we've got White House tours that means that you got a whole bunch of families who are depending on a paycheck who suddenly are seein'–

and good ole TOADY mole jay carney said this

An administration official, seeking to clarify the president's remarks, stressed that the decision to cancel the tours never came to the Oval Office, falling personally to Obama, but that it was ultimately made by White House staff.

"In order to allow the Secret Service to best fulfill its core mission, the White House made the decision that we would, unfortunately, have to temporarily suspend these tours," spokesman Jay Carney told reporters last week.

ooooooooooooo I see...the secret service MADE the white house close...or..uh NO the didn't......

so WHITE HOUSE STAFF made the decision and barry knew NOTHING ABOUT IT?

then he needs to just go off and play golf and let the staff do everything then
DO ANY OF YOU REALLY believe that he had NOTHING TO DO WITH it????????

No. Most just lie all the time. As in "Saddam has WMD and for a mere 40 billion, we'll be greeted as liberators". Or, "we apparently traded weapons for hostages, but I didn't know that when I signed the deals".

I view all this stuff as more media/government conglomerate slight of hand theater.
Sure, its the kinda stuff that makes the pendulum swing but that's the cost of keeping only the Hatfield's and the McCoy's in the center ring. They focus our eyes on the juggling red balls while the tiger is quietly moved off stage via the trap door in the floor...so to speak.

The positive about this whole sequester issue is once again it defrocked Obama----slowly, this guy loses all credibility. He's become a laughingstock. The "hopemonger" evolves to "fearmonger". I wonder what comes next. It also sounds like this POTUS doesn't know what the heck is going on around him---whose running this thing; Axelrod?

Somehow Obama has managed to take control of your party too. Unfortunately, he's destroying it.

If the school groups traveled there and didn't know Obama shut it down, they need more time in the classroom.

It's nothing more than a political move. O thought it would hurt the repubs and after his approval dropped a couple of points he re thinks it. They have the money they just announced they were sending $60 million in donations to al queda in Syria the week before.

Actually, 0bama isn't too concerned with the Libertarian Party. He's more focused on the Republican party and the Tea Party insurgence.

Nobody. There aren't enough of us with common sense and decency to ever threaten the cheerleaders and their Donkey/Elephant teams.
