Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Wednesday, March 13, 2013

The FBI and other U.S. agencies said on Tuesday they were investigating a website that posted financial and personal information about first lady Michelle Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, and other government figures as well as celebrities including singers Beyonce and Jay-Z. It was unclear how much of the data, which first appeared on the website www.exposed.su on Monday, was accurate or who posted it. The site listed social security numbers, telephone numbers, addresses and credit reports purportedly belonging to 18 prominent Americans.

It is a long article but worth the read.

"For former first lady and Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, hackers have released only her Social Security Number and places of residence. For other targets, though, the information leaked allows for much more of a glimpse into their finances.

Although disclosures of financial details are not uncommon for government officials, or discussions of a celebrity's net worth, the data made public is never as detailed as that disclosed by the Exposed.su hackers. Further, anyone whose Social Security Number is made public is at risk of identity theft."

"Hackers are continuing to leak the alleged personal finance records of US politicians and celebrities."

This has Rupert Murdoch's Modus Operandi all over it.

He puts it on a billboard with a challenge for someone to steal his identity. Which was promptly stolen.

That is like walking around the bad part of town with a handful of cash in your hand waving it around.

Or wikiLEAKS, or Annonymous....
anyone else remember when it was fashionable to be defedning Assange, and The goodly folks of Annonymous when it was Bush as the CiC for leaking Sensitive Information. I know, I know.....he comes the wash of "It was different then!" or "Those were State Secrets, Not Personal Info!" like it makes a damn difference.

Hacking should be a capital offense akin to rape. They both destroy lives forever. That said, I kind of think that all government official's (elected or appointed) financial details should be a matter of public record. If a Bush, Clinton, or Obama doesn't want the "scrutiny" to be in public office, don't run. We all know that these folks use thier positions for future personal gain. The American people deserve to know who they are selling out too. As far as Michelle is concerned, does anyone believe that there is a pre-nup preventing co-mingling of finances? So therefore her financials are the same as his.

This hack was probably done with legacy technologies from the 70's. Back then just about anyone could query the Credit Bureau's database via dial-up and a couple of command suffix's. Sure you had to have an account access code, etc, but it wouldn't surprise me a bit.

1. Rape isn't a capital offense.

2. You think people should be put to death for hacking? What kind of authoritarian third-world freak are you?

So should hyperbole.

It isnt truly a hack. It was done by gleaning freely available information from the internet. It would be better described as social engineering.

With all the tech knowledge and hard work hacking takes, someone wasted it on Jay-Z??
Michelle has my symp on this, however. I have always thought leave the spouse and children alone, except with Hillary, who willingly got into the caged wrestling arena and would be the first to agree with Diablo about that.

Easy, Joe. Hacking has a different definition in the third world. Just ask Rwandans.
