A drunk woman at an Elizabeth, N.J., nightclub was punched in the face by a police officer last Saturday in an incident captured on cell phone video. The woman was punched when she confronted the officer after he pushed a man to the ground during a melee outside Club Envy. "I was very shocked, very shocked that a cop would hit a woman like that," a witness told CBS New York. "I don't think he was in danger, not at all. "

How sexist of the witness, he should have hit her harder just to show that it did not matter if shim was a man or a women, attack the cop you get a beat down, or a punch down if your weak.
The cop "pushed" the man to the ground and he stayed down.
The cop "punched" the women to the ground and she stayed down.
That sounds like equal out come to me, perfect libtart reasoning, problem ?

Sure, the oppression of the Police State knows no gender boundries. All are equally powerless.

Frankly - She deserved it and I don't think it was out of line. How was he supposed to interpret her intent? There was a violent group actively fighting. She was interfering with an officer doing his job in breaking up that fight. Man, woman it doesn't matter. He wasn't being overly violent, he was responding to a threat. There is a psychology to mobs and on top of it I am sure he was working on adrenaline. Because mob members didn't think she was a threat doesn't mean from his perspective she wasn't.

So...
Was it the ideal thing to do? No.
Was it justified? I believe it was within reason - so yes.
Will he ever live it down with his fellow officers? No...

Without the whole video, I can't make a final judgement against the cop but I will say to not grab a cop no matter how right you think you are. It's easy to back seat drive on that small video clip but without the whole thing, it's not easy to understand the situation but he could have just thrown her to the ground also. Maybe she threatened his life while she was struggling with him. I wouldn't completely count on the testimony of a bunch of drunk people.

What is wrong with Jersey:

"N.J. Mother Arrested, Guns Confiscated- By Attending Property Tax Dispute Forum"

"On Saturday, March 9 there was an informal meeting at the Gloucester Community Center, to discuss the findings on "revaluations" by Appraisal Systems, Inc.- a company which has been contracted by the state of New Jersey- to assess the fair market property values for each county or borough- for the tax assessor's offices.

There has been much derision caused by these "revaluations" by homeowners, because property values have fallen dramatically- and the real estate market has been hit very hard . There is nothing "fair" about the market or the home values that have been assessed, according to many New Jersey families.

Ms. Hart attended the meeting, armed with- as she said "her Constitution and the facts."

Said Hart "I tried to express my opinion and tell them that my Constitutional rights had been violated. I began quoting the Constitution, line by line.

Ms. Hart tried to explain, that Appraisal Systems, Inc. was attempting to inspect her property without her husband being present. As an Orthodox Jew, this is against the tenets of her religion. Her husband had to be present. According to Ms. Hart, she was unable to express this concern.

Ever see the opening scene of Way of the Gun? This story makes me think of that.

It's simple: people better keep their hands off the cops especially in a volatile crowd situation. Being drunk is no excuse.

The scene in Way of the Gun where the guy acts like he is going to hit the guy, and lays into the loud mouthed gal that was starting the whole thing with her big mouth. Yeah, one of the best scenes ever.

In the Jersey case in this thread, the lady should have kept with her man, instead of turning on the cop. Looks like that cop had a lot on his plate and the scene could easily have developed into a real problem for him, so he eliminated a hinderance. She was no threat herself, but a big lady like that with all the people around and she is trying to wrap her arms around the cop.

The lady should have covered her man from any assault instead of trying to grap the lady.

That's the one. Reading this story just seems so much like it.

"Controlling the crowd" by punching people in the face. Just another overly aggressive douchebag cop, more dangerous than the people he's trying to "protect."
