Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

Doyle McManus, Los Angeles Times: President Obama owes Karl Rove a thank-you note. During last year's election campaign, Rove and other Republicans showed how federal tax law could be stretched to turn a political committee into a "social welfare" organization. These nonprofit organizations, known as 501(c)(4)s, are defined by the Internal Revenue Code as "primarily engaged in promoting in some way the common good and general welfare." This year, with the president's blessing, former Obama campaign aides have followed in Rove's muddy path and launched a social welfare organization of their own, called Organizing for Action (with, happily, the same initials as Obama for America).

Unfortunately, Organizing for Action shares one unattractive quality with Rove's 501(c)(4): hypocrisy.

Hmmm, so much for "Change", unless you count copying the Left's most reviled politician in his fundraising antics.

"Hmmm, so much for "Change""

Oh my. How condemning. Politicians employing political shenanigans for their benefit.

I am shocked. This is unheard of!

So what's the crux for you righto, the fact that someone elses politics didn't change the way your politics work? Or that your politics have been copied by someone else's politics?

I clutch my peals in anguish

You can't bring a knife to a gun fight.

Dems are willing to change the rule to block orgs like these if the GOP and their activist justices will go along.

Yeah, repubs invent new sleazy tactics then get mad when dems copy them.

Should dems get mad in 2016 when repubs try to run a minority candidate? Afterall, dems did it first and it worked. It infuriated repubs but now they're desperately trying to copy it.

If your enemy discovers gunpowder are you gonna keep using your bow and arrow?
