Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Thursday, March 07, 2013

Fox News chief Roger Ailes describes President Barack Obama as lazy in a new authorized biography written by Zev Chafetz. "Obama's the one who never worked a day in his life," Ailes says in the book. "He never earned a penny that wasn't public money. How many fund-raisers does he attend every week? How often does he play basketball and golf? I wish I had that kind of time. He's lazy, but the media won't report that." After Chafetz responded with raised eyebrows, Ailes responded, "I didn't come up with that. Obama said that, to Barbara Walters." What Obama said, ask described by Chafetz, is "he feels a laziness in himself that he attributes to his laid-back upbringing in Hawaii."

"lazy? "never worked a day in his life"? I'm sure Harvard was a breeze and that being a college professor requires no effort.

The claim that Obama never worked in the private sector is false. After being hired in 1993, Obama worked 11 years at the law firm Davis, Miner, Barnhill & Galland, the first three as an associate and the next eight as of counsel.

I disagree with the lazy comment, but it was drawn from an Obama statement and is as valid as "mission accomplished" was for a barb. Never worked a day in his life? A stretch, but true as far as a real private sector job where your review is daily rather than every few years.
Not racist, just vitriolic and run of the mill political nastiness.

Therefor Obama did have a private sector Job and I suspect Ailes knows this.

And, Tor, I wish such rhetoric would evaporate on all sides.
I used to watch the Brit Parliament debate on cable and the level of churlishness and disrespect makes our house and senate much more preferable. I doubt Canada's legislature behaves the same way as Britain's.
In the end, Ailes is a private citizen and is entitled to his words. But write the first draft drunk and the final on nothing but coffee. You will sound like a genius, not a dwarf.

Only in theory, just like the Ivies, UC gets so much money from government sources its policies are virtually dictated by political concerns like fairness, racial balance, gender opportunity, sensitivity to gays....they sold out (except for football, gotta admire UC for that). The professors employed usually reflect that bribery and its ideological preferences.

Actually, it's false. Obama was an associate from 1993 to 1996 at Davis, Miner, Barnhill & Galland, a law firm specializing in civil rights litigation and neighborhood economic development. He then served as an of counsel at the firm from 1996 to 2004.

A lot of his work career has been in the public sector and government, but his time at the law firm was a private sector job.

Obama's Disdain For The Private Sector

How could the president possibly be so misguided? By his own admission, Obama has neither affinity nor respect for the private sector. In his autobiography Dreams from My Father, he wrote that he sought "conventional work" to pay the bills until he could realize his goal of becoming a community organizer. This line in the book reveals his mindset: "Like a spy behind enemy lines, I arrived every day at my mid-Manhattan office and sat at my computer terminal." His rationale? "I would need the money later, I told myself. Organizers didn't make any money; their poverty was proof of their integrity."

This discussion of racism is a deflection.

Libs can't stand to even imagine that Emperor Barackus might be an incompetent douche. So any criticism of him is labeled racist. All libs have are excuses. But excuses don't pay the bills. Excuses don't keep Iran from getting a nuke. The only thing we've heard from the Emperor's administration during the past 4 years is George W. Bush, republicans, and racism. It's crap. Leaders don't make excuses, they take responsibility.

Read the transcript below of President Obama talking about laziness.

December 23, 2011
Barbara Walters, ABC News: "What's the trait you most deplore in yourself, and the trait you most deplore in others?"

President Obama: "Laziness."

Walters: "You're lazy?"

Obama: "You know, it's interesting. There is a deep down, underneath all the work that I do, I think there's a laziness in me. It's probably from, you know, growing up in Hawaii and it's sunny outside, and sitting on the beach.

Too lazy to take on the mililtary industrial complex. Too lazy to reform the drug war. Too lazy to fight back against the insane retard gang called the tea party.

He was put in the seat to be able to pull america back to common sense after 30 years of pro-rich, pro-war, pro-corporate punishment of the underclasses, but he sqaundered it all. If that's not laziness, I don't know what is.

Depends on what you call a "job". If you want him to have dedicated a portion of his life to earning profit for shareholders or selling disposable crap to gullible consumers then I'm glad he never had a job.

I'll take someone who never had that kind of "job" over someone like Romney, who worked super hard at his "job" everyday shipping american careers overseas and pulling off fine print legal magic tricks to profit off dying companies and leaving taxpayers to swallow the loss.

you wouldnt have heard that in those places I dont believe..

I don't think they've ever seen a real Black person in Altha except on TV. They are my step-grandparents there, and I think my dad and I were their first Jews.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm of the impression that the most common stereotype about Black people is that they're lazy.

That this would be say about a twice elected President does smack of racism.

"Maybe. I can only speak for myself as someone who would of before Libya and won't after."

I didn't watch the footage. I think she'd be a capable president, and I mean "capable" in a laudatory way. There are things I don't like about her, but if it was her against pretty much anyone on the GOP side that I've heard of so far, I'd vote for Hillary. (If Huntsman made it to the nomination--hahahahahahaha--I'
d probably give him a go over her. His cred is pretty good. Plus, we had a nice chat when he visited up here last year. : ) )

I don't understand the lazy comment unless it's implied racism. Unless lazy is meant as not doing what you want him to do. I think the President has a lot of bad ideas, combined with half measures dressed in lefty rhetoric that are often worse than no measures at all, but I don't think he's lazy.

LOL...so cleaning up half the bedroom is not lazy?

Was it the 'ridiculously partisan hack' side of him that called Newt Gingrich a pr*ck? Admit it...you didn't read the article, did you?

#33 | Posted by MUSTANG

Ailes insulted Newtsy only because FOX was pimping for Etchy. Other than that, FOX loves the Newtster, given the amount of air time they give him. Do try and keep up.

I know of a guy who had four jobs in his life:
night supervisor at the Belle Springs Creamery,
possibly minor league baseball player,
Solider,
and President.

Eisenhower didn't do anything wrong by having only these jobs either.

Any person worth his salt would DIE for a resume like Obama's. Right wing racist hate Obama and they would even if he personally saved them from drowning. He is arguably the best lawyer in the country. Read his books and publications, the guy is not a regular dude. He is extraordinary by every measure. If you can't recognize that then you are are ignorant or worst racist. The dude is unique by every standard. Obama is extraordinary people. I'm sorry. He just is.

I hear he also passes rainbows instead of turds and farts out gentle mists of lavender, much like a glade plug-in, whenever someone passes by.

Please stop sugar coating it and tell us what you really think.

For a "lazy" man Barry Obama sure has "f"ed up the whole country from coast to coast so for me I wish he was lazy, we would be better off now.

...repukes didn't begrudge da shrubs biking & golfing...

...I wonder what the difference is?

...could it be because Da Prez is black?

...let the repuke denial of the obvious commence...everyone can see it but they cannot admit the obvious...

...being a repuke is resigning yourself to defending the indefensible...

He may be laid back and tend to be lazy, but I don't think anyone that is President can be a total slacker. It takes energy to give speeches and constantly have to work on issues.

Obama may be many things, but I wouldn't classify him as lazy.

This thread is a tremendous microchosm of our current political discourse:

Any criticism of Obama in particular, or liberal policies in the abstract is motivated by: Racism.

According to our state-run media, otherwise known as the MSM, "Chicago" and "angry" are racist, dog-whistle terms. Hell, "lazy" is clearly a racist word.

It's amazing that leftists are by-far the biggest impediment toward racial harmony in this country.

#102 | Posted by JeffJ at 2013-03-09 01:11 AM | Reply | Flag:

state-run media: So was there no actual change in the state from Bush to Obama (shadow gov't), or was there a media coup?

Anyone using this phrase immediately throws credibility out the window.

Pragmatist,

My comment was directed at the fact that much of our media has evolved from watch-dogs to lap-dogs. As it stands now, the MSM is a propaganda arm of this administration and is also very biased in favor of 'progressive' agenda issues.

It was the same under Bush. Remember the Terry Schiavo debacle, basically media created, and it was the exact same position bush had?

The MSM is a corporate owned mess, regardless. They do "hard hitting" stories about crap (madrassa, muslim, ayers, acorn, rev wright) BECAUE IT SELLS and lick obamas sack over drones, civil liberties, etc etc BECAUSE IT SELLS.

Same garbage with Bush...they did stories about his drinking a long time ago, dirty bomb attacks that would never happen, and rarely mentioned our country doing illegal renditions to Syria to torture/murder people.

The only exceptions to these rules are the cable news programs MSNBC and Fox. Fox kisses republican ass, MSNBC kisses democratic ass. CNN just sucks.
