Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

Two boys out collecting firewood with their donkeys were killed by weapons fired from a NATO helicopter, Afghan and American military officials announced Saturday. Brothers Toor Jan, 11, and Andul Wodood, 12, were walking behind their donkeys in Oruzgan Province when they were fired upon in the mistaken belief they were insurgents. The donkeys were killed as well. "I offer my personal apology and condolences to the family of the boys who were killed," said Gen. Joseph F. Dunford Jr., the new American commander in Afghanistan. "We take full responsibility for this tragedy."

QUESTION? Imagine for a moment you were living in a sovereign nation while foreigners and outsiders could fire at will and kill your family and others not for crimes, but because they were at the wrong place, and exactly how you would feel and how you would tolerate it?

We in America have lost the ability to empathize with others and understand how we would feel if the situation was reversed.

Mm hmm. I bet nobody involved in these murders, killings if you prefer, will be reprimanded in any way.

Any takers?

I had a buddy (F-16 pilot) who tracked an insurgent carrying an RPG for a while waiting for him to commit a hostile act. After tracking him for a length of time, the insurgent took his RPG off his shoulder, unrolled it, and began praying on it.

My buddy ended up deciding that a prayer rug did not constitute a lethal weapon and returned to base.

Kind of strange that an attack helicopter would not have been able to make a better target ID.

Very true. Our president calls taxes 'investments.'

This is a sad and tragic loss of innocent life. If piloted helicopter crews could not make a positive ID on a target.. just imagine what will happen when the A160 Hummingbird takes to combat.. controlled from so man child that's great with Nintendo.

Probably won't make much difference.

Your friend is obviously not a conservative.

A160 Hummingbird takes to combat..

Hopefully, the Hummingbird will at least stay off bennies and know where it is. That'll eliminate at least some "friendly fire" deaths.

They've pretty much scrapped the A160 project anyway.

There are no "mistakes" when you have been militarily engaged inside another country for 12 years.

Imagine how bad things would be if we didn't have a Noble Peace Prize winner as CIC.

Oh, I bet that made the families of these murdered kids feel much better.

We should kill their families as well.

So, Obama is responsible for our involvement in Afghanistan?

or are you saying the post 2009 war on Afghanistan is a better than pre 2009 war on Afghanistan?

Or are you using the death of the two kids as a shot at Obama?

Not your best retort Sully.
