Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Saturday, March 02, 2013

Rep. Peter King (R-N.Y.) is fed up with his Republican colleagues insulting his state and then begging it for political donations. On Thursday, he noted that Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) is raising money on Wall Street as CPAC is refusing to invite New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) to its big annual event. Republicans "are more and more taking on this anti-Northeast attitude," King said. "We say fine, if you want to be anti-Northeast, then the Northeast is going to be anti-them. ... Anyone from New York or New Jersey who contributes one penny to congressional Republicans is out of their minds."

Bearing in mind that true connoisseurs of schadenfreude have to be careful, lest they slip over the edge into hubris, you're right, Danni: there are some serious chuckles in this unintended consequence of the GOP's odious Southern Strategy.

New York and New Jersey along with California should have been divorced from this country years ago----guess what states gave birth to most of our financial problems----Oh, throw Washington DC in that mix.

Without NY NJ and California, the USA would be a third world country.

Another sighting of a fundamentally un-American idea.

uuuuuummmmm:

1. $220 trillion of public and unfunded liabilities debt.
2. Debt/GDP of 106%
3. Deficits of $1+ trillion/year.
4. Crony socialism.
5. A POTUS with no respect for the constitution
6. Masses receiving increasing monies from the government in return for power maintenance.
7. Ever increasing surveillance of the citizenry.

I believe we're almost there.

I am flattered you include NJ, Moder8. Feel free to visit Camden someday if you want to explore that third world contention.

What a ridiculous thing to say.

Somebody comes on the DR several times a day and talks about how much better off the country would be if we didn't have State X. Just another type of prejudice.

Well..New York started out the civil war overwhelmingly pro south (the money interests) so it's not too surprising that wall street is still pro south.

Yeah matsy, I agree with CA, home of Nixon and Reagan, two big spending borrowers. But shouldn't Texas , home of the Bushies, be there instead of NJ and NY?

And DC isn't a state, Matsy.

The GOP should be afraid of King.

At this point he could leave their party and still get re-elected.
