And now he is in trouble for a 2011 incident in which he failed to investigate racial taunts -- including someone allegedly alluding to lynching Muirhead -- made when he arrived at a party at a farm that had gotten out of hand. Muirhead and two fellow officers were confronted by 15 people who had reportedly been drinking, and an altercation ensued. A partygoer filed a complaint against Muirhead's conduct that night, and he faces disciplinary charges, including neglect of duty for not investigating the racial taunts made against him.

This is simply insanity. One of the partiers where he was taunted filed the complaint to boot.
This guy has real character not to file the charge, I say. His maturity is rewarded by this?

Maybe he just doesn't feel victimized because some drunk loser made a racial comment.

But I'm sure the fact that his employer is disciplining him because he is black (if the same comments were said to a white officer, there would be no discipline for not "investigating") bothers him a great deal.

Anyway, I wish Canadian Boaz all the best.

Sounds like the Canadian cop was just trying to be nice and not ruin someone's life over what they said while drunk.

Exactly, Tor. And maybe he is just that much bigger a man than to whine about verbal abuse.
But to investigate him??? That is PC out of control. I admire what this constable did.

BTW, I wonder if the same authorities have investigated white police who do not respond to racial taunts? They would be as guilty as this constable, right?

Cops don't have to be "nice". He should teach the drunken fools a lesson on how to speak to law enforcement officers, just like the judge who gave that girl jail time plus a fine for flipping him off. This guy was not doing his job because he was ashamed of calling the crime when it happened.

"But to investigate him??? That is PC out of control."

It's Canada, fool. What's your point?

More detail:

"Muirhead, an eight-year police veteran, faces charges of insubordination and discreditable conduct after a man alleged he was rudely treated at the party. He is also charged with neglect of duty for allegedly failing "to properly investigate" the racial remark."

"Making the formal complaint against Muirhead was Rheal Duguay, 41, who runs a landscaping and engine-repair business in Aurora. Duguay said he was offended because Muirhead wouldn't talk with him as the officer checked the licence plates of vehicles at the farm."

"Things got particularly ugly when Duguay's $400 leather jacket fell from his motorcycle to the ground and Muirhead ignored his repeated orders to "Pick up my (expletive) jacket!"
