A Plano lawmaker has introduced legislation to create a tax-free holiday for gun-buyers in Texas. The holiday would take place on Texas Independence Day, March 2. "We filed this bill, the Texas Gun Ownership Reinforcement Act, because we sincerely and strongly believe that Texas should take the lead in the fight against the federal government's attempts to infringe on our Second Amendment rights," said state Rep. Jeff Leach (R), who introduced the bill. "This act encourages and incentivizes lawful gun ownership and allows law-abiding citizens, hunters and sportsmen the opportunity to save money on firearms."
