Porn stars aren't particularly keen on being studied. But they are the focus of great public interest and moral debate, which may explain why one man's in-depth analysis of adult film performers went viral last week.

The average adult film actress is a brunette with a B-cup named Nikki, at least according to blogger Jon Millward, who spent six months analyzing the demographics of 10,000 porn stars drawn from the Internet Adult Film Database. But what's known about porn stars beyond their breast size? Remarkably little, thanks to practically zero research funding and a community wary of researchers.

I think most men are content with their degrading preconceptions about the type of women who become porn stars. Research can only dampen the ideas we use to dehumanize the people we lustfully objectify daily in our fantasies.

I saw a good doc a couple of months ago about retired porn stars called After Porn Ends. Pretty interesting. Some were completely what the stereotype predicts. Others defied expectation.

What is degrading? Since when is a mans desire for a thin women with medium size breasts "degrading".

Why should I be ashamed of that, when on the other hand a woman wants a man that has status...? Why isn't that degrading?

Ever wonder why men get turned on by porn and women not so much...

Read SpermWars... get in touch with your genetic predisposition to watching other people have sex and why men get turned on by it.

What is degrading about it?

What is degrading about it?

This may be in an error of judgment on my part, but I'm gonna try to answer the question.

It is degrading to a woman to view her as no more than an object of lust and a receptacle for lustful acts. It disregards her intelligence, her sophistication, ... her spirit. It, at least temporarily, changes her from a person into an item/commodity. Sometimes our fantasies are 'normal', sometimes they are 'perverted' and 'sick'. Some of our fantasies are loving, some involve degradation, humiliation, violence, etc. Either way, the woman who is the focus in the fantasy is not a person within the context of such sexual fantasies, but rather an object to be used and discarded.

Having said all of the above, I acknowledge that given our biologic make-up, looking at porn is "normal" behavior.

If you have to ask what's degrading about turning people into objects, commodities, slabs of flesh, then you're probably a fan of capitalism for starters.

You sir, are absolutely right!

But, I think this is going to require more "research" just to be sure.

Looking at beautiful naked women is a part of nature. It ensures the species gets propulgated with the strongest genes. That isnt going to change.

Not to be crass, but how does jerking off in front of the computer ensure the species gets propulgated with the strongest genes? I missed the connection there.

Your wife isn't under the desk taking care of your "business" while you watch?

Maybe I am not doing this "research" right.

I'm not judging anyone when I say this but porn exploits everyone (men and women).

Is it worth it though?

Ron Jeremy perhaps?

Because the sane, normal males are not in front of the computer doing that, Moder8. You have kids, right?

And she plays no role in stepping into that situation for easy money? Is it really exploitation when this sort of "work" is sought out by those in the business?

I'm not saying it's all fine and dandy and a cushy life, but c'mon. It's a choice for these women. It'd be illegal if it was otherwise.

I worked with a beautiful women who earned her PHD in EE by pole-dancing. She does ballroom dancing for fun now.

I saw a good doc a couple of months ago about retired porn stars called After Porn Ends.

I saw that too and was also surprise by some of what I saw.

One thing I noticed is that the older ladies, the ones in the business in the 70s and 80s, had good heads on their shoulders.

The ones in the 90s and 2000s were much more stereotypical in their apparent lack of intelligence and drive to do anything else. I don't think any of them stayed out of porn if I remember the end right.

It's funny you mention it too since my wife called me at work today asking why I was watching porn on netflix lol

She was joking.

At least that's what she said when I didn't start laughing in my half-attentive state.

In any case that's a depressing thought LOL

Careful, JPW! Ladies have a different logic than we do and only a fool pays no attention. If she mentioned it....well, take up stamp collecting for a while.
Meant friendly.

I know and I appreciate it.

I don't think it's a problem.

But maybe I'm just being a fool.

JPW, they get jealous of the bodies. Don't blame them, it's in the genes. If they (or men) were objective, gee whiz, the typical porn actress has a body that lasts one night for interest. I doubt you married the lady for just that.
Take my word, please. Women really do get fired up about some other woman being appealing, appealing to YOU at least.
Found out the hard way, tho' not through porn....Mrs. D is a red head and they have certain..communication skills that make lawyers seem like new age feel good counselors.

Since watching porn isn't a frequent activity of mine, I'm not too worried about it.

Thank you though. I really appreciate it. Nice to know that even though we DR posters rip each others' heads off on a daily basis there's still a certain degree of respect.

You are most welcome, but remember: if the lady 'mentions' it that is usually not an invitation to rational discussion. It means she finally MENTIONED it. It's akin to that mention about wearing white athletic socks while lovemaking....
Don't go there.

SOrry but if your a product, your a product. I didn't make you a product, YOU made YOU a product. If someone(an ADULT) wishes to be objectified and used, its not my place to get into their business. Just dont ever expect to be taken seriously as a Actress or Actor(looking at Sash Grey here). I would go into detail here but the mod policy here has gotten worse than a Kitchen Bakery Goods blog.......
