Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Sunday, February 24, 2013

Dr. Ben Carson, a pediatric neurosurgeon who shocked Washington when he used his speech at the non-partisan National Prayer Breakfast to lecture President Barack Obama on the flat tax earlier this month, is defending his rant by insisting that he was just trying to "please" God.

As the president was forced to sit and listen, Carson had suggested that Biblical "tithing" would be a better system than the current progressive tax where wealthy Americans pay a higher rate than the poor.

During an interview that aired on Sunday, Fox News host Chris Wallace asked Carson if he had any regrets about upstaging the president and hijacking the non-partisan prayer breakfast.

"I serve God," Carson explained. "And my purpose is to please Him. And if God be for you, who can be against you?"

The neurosurgeon is retiring from his career as a surgeon in June and has said that a possible run for president was "up to God."

Since when is being religious 'hearing voices' in one's head?
The bigotry of the left against religion is going to benefit only their opponents.

Being religious must be fun. You can do whatever you want and then claim it was "God's will". That's what I want in a person in a position of authority, someone accountable only to the voices in their head.

One of the signs of schizophrenia is hearing voices outside your head that are not there.

This guy may or may not hear voices in his head, the article doesn't say that; many religious people seem to understand God from intuitive impressions, from prayer and meditation, not voices in or outside their head.

But whomever this guy is listening to, he should stop.

Being "religious" is not particularly fun; being spiritual, now that's a blast. JIMMY, you ought to try it sometime; it'd help your sense of humor.

Not really; it was fun watching Obungler's body language.

Carson isn't hearing voices.

He may a major faux pass but he doesn't hear voices.

Hopefully it isn't the same voice that mentioned Gog and Magog to Gannon's punchboard.

"Being religious must be fun. You can do whatever you want..."

Now drjimmies will tell us how that statement can be true and the claim by the anti-religious that relion is 'oppressive' can also be true.
Nice try.

"the current progressive tax where wealthy Americans pay a higher rate than the poor."

Do the poor pay taxes? Last I heard 47% of the american public do not pay any federal income taxes. Of course that doesn't stop Obama from spending us into the poorhouse to keep his house of cards standing.

I doubt that this man's religious beliefs actually told him to be an arrogant, classless jerk at the National Prayer Breakfast but he did it anyway. The Breakfast should have been a moment of unified hope and prayer not a soap box for this clown to attack the President who honored him with his presence.

"the poor pay taxes?"

Yes. Sales taxes. They also pay their landlord's property and income taxes, although trying to get the poor to realize that fact is a big reason why Obama is president.

Stating one's personal religious views is now arrogant and tactless in Danni's world.

...Obama never said anything of the sort ....

#21 I don't support Republicans. Also, Obama has made reference to God on several occasions, talked about his prayer habits and seeking guidance from God

#24 Who said he did? My contribution to the thread was that like this alleged nominee, Obama hears voices in his head as well.

It is simply a matter of bringing all things into consideration.

You disputed my claim that Obama heard voices in his head. I gave you information to show my claim was correct, and your retort was incorrect.

"Diablo Is not the national prayer breakfast to be a day of peace and brotherhood for all who attend?"

Stating one's religious views during a prayer breakfast somehow opposes peace and brotherhood? He thinks his idea is more humane than the current tax system. It's appropriate.

#30 | Posted by Diablo at 2013-02-25 05:11 PM | Reply | Flag:

#29 I don't believe that is the case. Obama, in the interview, clearly states he has a conversation with God.
