Tebow Cancels Talk at Dallas Church

NFL quarterback Tim Tebow has cancelled an appearance at a Baptist megachurch in Dallas run by pastor Rev. Robert Jeffress, who called Mormons a cult, said Islam promotes violence and preached that homosexuality is a sin. Tebow posted on Twitter Thursday that "new information" had come to his attention and he was cancelling the April 28 speech. Jeffress said Tebow told him he'd like to speak at his church in the future, but "he needed to avoid controversy right now for personal and professional reasons."

(By the way, it's not the homosexuality that galls me; it's the rank hypocrisy of people who claim to know, be acting on, and representing the Word of the Lord or whatever rubbish it is they're spouting these days.)

How is saying "This guy opposes homsexuality" hounding him?

People who do so for religious reasons should be happy to have their position revealed anyway. If you're hating gays in secret, it has nothing to do with religion.

No, we keep a close watch. Often these fundamentalists are dangerous, wrapping themselves in religious intolerance and infest within positions of authority. To ignore them often leaves them to murder.

I've never seen Tebow, not sure what his big controversy is if he's a real hater. Perhaps he's only "hate for pay"?

I'm glad to hear Tebow canceled.

Not because I support people being persecuted for their civil opinions or attacked for their civil religion but because I don't like most megaChurches.
