Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Saturday, February 23, 2013

An upstate New York man died on the way to his late wife's wake and was buried in a plot beside her Wednesday. Norman Hendrickson, 94, and his wife, Gwen, had been married for 66 years. He stopped breathing in the limo on the way to her wake Saturday and a double funeral was held. Funeral director Elizabeth Nichols-Ross said Norman was a jokester who would have enjoyed the irony. "I don't blush easily, but he told ones that made you blush," she said.

I wouldn't mind dying like that.

We all have a finite and limited life, and to exit it without undo suffering, and to experience a long, happy and healthy life in a good relationship with family is probably the most we all can ever hope for.

These kinds of stories I always find somewhat depressing yet the reality of it all should be exhilarating to family and friends. They left together. In the end what more could they hope to experience?

Uhh, just wondering, was the casket a double or a full? A queen would be asking too much. All that extra dirt. Sorry, hangs head in shame.

This is a sad and real story for family and friends, but is it real news, or a diversion to most Americans that have had the media fail to cover the real political and corporate corruption that has overtaken the USA and other countries?

We'd be much better off if the 24 hour news day focused like a laser on all things that harm society at large, instead of using much of our and their time to promote other stuff, that keeps us uninformed.

Just a suggestion. Allow front page stories to bubble up based upon how members rate them:

1. important to discuss for political and societal reasons,
2. interesting
3. interesting but does not promote societal benefit.

Like everything "news" is relative to other news.
